Funny you ask, after 4 m3's I needed something different and went with a C6 z51 (not a c7 but same feel) it was like driving a jet fighter, low roof line, tons of torque, mean V8 growl....you get the point.....but after a year it was still missing something for me. It just wasn't an M car. It didn't have the fit and finish and wasn't anything more than just a stress relief whereas the M was a machine in so many ways, from the power band, handling, comfort, etc, it so much more of a car which is what I've always loved about these cars so I traded it in on an E93. Moral of the story, go buy it, drive the shit out of it, and if you love it keep it, or trade it and move on.

You can drop a turd out of an airplane, and it will accelerate to 60MPH in under 3 seconds..... and so it goes with a Corvette.
There is just so much more to a car than what GM is selling.

Get the Stingray. New experience with a new car, why not?

I had a C5 Z06, it was a blast to drive. As mentioned before, tons of torque. However, with less than 3,000 miles, I started to have ongoing electrical issues; windows not working, all of the dash lights coming on, etc. The last time I had the car at Watkins Glen, they wouldn't let me out on the track during the 3rd session because I couldn't put my windows down! I had no problems earlier, it raining earlier so I put the windows up, then they would not work at all. The Dealership could never figure it out.
I was always a die-hard GM guy, even as a kid. I wouldn't say I would never buy another GM product, but it would have to be something very special...maybe the new Z06? But I would definitely hang on to my BMW. Is there any way you could afford both? |

Love the stingray, they are just way too common around here. My friend just picked up a new zo6 w zo7 package, car is gorgeous.

If your going to get a Vette, get the Z06. The basic Vette (stingray) will not stand out as much as the Lime Rock. It will just be another Vette. But if you get the Z06, then in my book you would have made an upgrade. I'm glad your aren't considering getting a Ford!

Get the stingray, drive it until the M4 ZCP or GTS comes out. Then come back to an ///M.
I see more stingrays than e9x M3's in houston, which is crazy that car hasn't been around that long. |

Cant comment on what car to get but...
I was at the Frankfurt airport about a week ago. They had both the i8 and stingray out in full force. Unfortunately GM must have been out bid by BMW and they had quite a shitty spot to show off their new ride. Gave me a chuckle... The i8 was dead center where all the foot traffic takes place... The Stringray was out of the way in the corner partially obstructed by a large pillar. Heh... |
