997.2 c4s if you can deal with 2 doors. Best modern NA 911 besides the GTs

Shelby GT350, that thing is an absolute riot and significantly more visceral than the M3. The Camaro Zl1 1LE is also a mighty impressive beast from I've watched / read.
If I had to buy a new sedan it would be between the F80 and Giulia Quad. The Giulia is a lot more special. |

For those saying 997 C4s or c2s... have you pushed that car?? I’d never give up my M3 for that.

What's the budget OP?
The e90/92 m3 is hard to compare with for <$30k. For $45k GT350 For $60k ZL1LE For $80k+ 997.1 gt3 All of the above are improvements at different budgets Last edited by HadesM3; 02-08-2019 at 09:13 PM.. |

Yah I say no more than double a E90 price. Can't think of anything in that range that is as fun as the E90.

Are you basing that on reputation or actual experience? I’ve driven the Gt350 and it’s a fun car. Loud, fun engine and pretty fast, with a nice 6MT. But it feels huge and heavy, and the interior is cheesy/typical mustang. It’s a different experience than the M3. Is it better than an e9x M3? No. Not to me (and fwiw, not to Matt of Obssessed Garage, who sold his gt350 and went back to an e92).

I know the natural progression is to hop into a Porsche and they are great cars
But as someone who just sold his CGTS, that I chose over the 991 C2S...I wouldn't get out my e92 m3 for anything less than a GT3 and even then I would hesitate unless you've got a couple other practical cars in the stable. I found myself missing the e92 practicality a lot.

Anyone have experience/advice regarding the transition into a 991.1 GTS?
Price-point aside, seems like an engaging car that might make a satisfying replacement to the E9x M3. |

I know you said no two seater but you're looking at 911 which aren't that usable in back. Have you thought of the Cayman? The mid engine thing feels very different from the S2000. If you want a BMW, then Z4M. They're no longer depreciating. A lot more nimble than an E9x. It's a nice mix of sportscar and cruiser. I have an S2000. I'm looking for an E90 M3 to pair with it. I think it's an amazing car but I'd look to a smaller vehicle if I didn't really need a back seat. |

I'd rather buy a $10,000 used Accord when my need arises to haul people around, and get as much naturally aspirated 911 as I could afford. And truth be told, I'd get a recent 911 with the small-turbos if I could afford it and the maintenance. For my, a 911 is next....especially if I decide to swap my E93 for an E90, which I may do, just so I can get into the 911 next (and then that solves my 4-seat need problem). |

gts limits are higher with superior engineering and performance vs a 3 series. gts has wide body which looks awesome but to be honest I missed the NA V8 sounds and pdk is crisp but got boring, you want manual all the way for $110k I didn't feel it was worth it so I sold the gts for a V8 R8 and never looked back. checks all the boxes for me.

I was about to add an E92 m3 to complement my m2. but then drove a V8 R8. game over got the NA 8k rpm V8 in exotic looking pack plus slow depreciation. added a race exhaust. I would like to add an e92 m3 to the stable some day but the R8 V8 has similar characteristics as the S65 so R8 v8 was my progression as the new turbo M cars are not my cup of tea.

I don't see myself moving away from the E9x M3 platform, as I still think it's one of my favorite M's ever made. I added a Z4M Roadster and that also comes pretty close, but since you already have an S2000, it wouldn't make sense. I personally would love a 6MT M2 Competition in Long Beach Blue. Or an M2CS in Misano Blue if the prices are too stupid.
But then you look at the fact that an E9x M3 costs under $30k nowadays. How can you beat that? I'd most likely add another one if mine gets totaled for some reason.

I had a manual E90 M3 and recently sold it for an RS4. It was the only other 4-door car with a high-revving, non-turbo V8. On back roads I find it just as capable and quick as my M3 without feeling too much understeer. The extra torque is noticeable and the exhaust sounds deep and throaty. I do really miss my M3, though, and could see myself buying another one. If I was to track my cars, the M3 would be the one to get. For 6/10ths driving, I've been equally happy with both cars.

The RS4 V8 is heavier. After factoring in the weight, does the 4.2L direct injection motor really feel like it has more torque? I don’t know the gearing but would guess it is longer than the M3 and if so it has less torque multiplication.
