^ Welcome, and congrats on both the purchase and the new gig! I lived in LA when I went to Loyola. I live in Walnut Creek now. Check out the regional CA forum on here, there's usually a monthly M3Post meet somewhere central in the Bay. There are also C&C events scattered around the Bay (though I think they're on hold until after the winter) including one in Danville, Treasure Island, South Bay, Marin, etc.

You both have more patience than me, I went in house right away, ha!

Haha I get the appeal. I like litigation, so I do patent lit there. My dad was an O'Melveny lifer and was always around and a great dad, so I grew up seeing biglaw as a totally viable way to have a family and still be happy. It does seem that is a lot rarer nowadays, so we'll see how long I stick around. For now, though, I'm young and enjoy trial work and travel, but I imagine there will come a time that it gets old.

How is Walnut Creek? I have a few coworkers that live out there and they seem to be happy with it.

22 and bought it when I was 22. An absolute dream come true and wouldn't have ever ended up in one of these cars if it wasn't for this forum.

I got my E90 last year (which is kinda funny to say on Jan 2) at 36.

My first ///M car was a Z4M that I bought at 29 to replace my ailing Jaguar XJR. At the time I figured I didn't need a fast sedan, a 2 seater was more than enough for me. 18 months later, the wife was pregnant and reality set in...the Z4M had to go. It took a few years, but now I'm back in a fast sedan, and both of my kids get to enjoy the sounds of the S65 with their dad!

Thanks! Count me among the crowd that prefers the sedan even when the back seats are unused.

I’m 42 and I’ve probably had 7-8 BMWs over the years, most of them 6MT. Got my first M car at 34, it was the E60 M5 with that screaming V10, which was really something special. Later added the E90 M3, swapped the E60 for the E39 M5, then sold them both and got a 911 C2S cause I thought I wanted something different. 6 months later I’m back in the E90 M3 and never letting this one go!

That story says a lot about the E90M, nice.

35, with two young kids.

M3 is a 3rd car for us. Ideally I’d rather be in a 911, but the m3 is damn good and much more useable so I can drive it more and enjoy with the kids.

The value of the m3 is incredible also, close to as enjoyable as a 911 for half the price. Plus the low cost allows me to mod and play with the car a bit. Have recaro sportster cs in it which makes it a lot better experience.

Great 3rd car for those with a young family.

I originally was looking for an E90 M3 but couldn't find one in 6 speed manual, so the E92 M3 6 speed manual check off 95% of my needs. No regrets.

We are very similar, I believe we will definitely have 911 in the near future, once our kids are All grown up!!!

First M3 was an E36 in a somewhat rare color combo at age 22 - Estoril blue with a modena interior. Man I loved that car. Owned it 11 years before I unloaded it for probably too cheap. It was beginning to nickle and dime me on maintenance and I didn't have a place to work on it. I had moved into an apartment temporarily before buying my next house (new area and didn't want to purchase into I found out where I wanted to live). My garage was barely big enough to do an oil change. Anyway, sold that and have been in an E90 M3 ever since. Still enjoy driving it, however, this past year it has been an expensive year for maintenance. Good lord I think I dropped easily 3k+ on stuff that broke. Currently at about 132k miles.

28. Bought at 26 when I was finally making decent money and wanted to graduate from my E30. Now after maturing a bit, all I think of when I look at it is "depreciating asset". It's mostly worth it though. The exhaust note is therapeutic.

Only regret is that I should have gone with a sedan. Bit more practical and I actually prefer the styling to the coupe's. Anyone wanna trade? :P

I feel you.

Got mine at 26 as well. Now the monthly payment looks like a lost investment opportunity.

But oh well, you only live once. V8

Picked up my E90 6MT last summer (45 at time, now 46). My first M car, but 10th BMW I have owned. I've been wanting one of these for some time but didn't have the heart to sell my '03 E39 530i. Well, a hit and run solved that problem for me early last year Finally found the right E90 and I have a smile of my face every time I get behind the wheel.

I bought my 2008 E92 in 2012 when I was 25. Still have it now, at 31 and don't think I want to part with it anytime soon!
