If you wash your car once a week, it will stay clean pretty well.

You should hit up John in Northridge to detail your car. From the pics that I've seen, he does a great job for a very reasonable price. I'm going to have him come out and detail my car when the weather starts to settle down.

My car is in pretty bad shape, too. It wouldn't bother most people, but it's driving me crazy. There are lots of fine swirl marks, some water spots, a few blemishes on one of the rear quarter pannels, and the paint just looks dull. The car definitely needs to be clayed and have a multi-step detail.

Touchless washes are bad for the paint, no?

You're going to get swirls sooner or later. You might as well wash the car properly.

Wash your car once per week, using the proper two-bucket method.

Every 6 months, have your car fully detailed (multi-step). Between the full details (every 3 months), have your car detailed (single-step).

True, but I would imagine that the clear bra plastic would need to be cared for (i.e., more than just soap and water) in order to keep it looking good and to prevent fading.

Yea, just get over trying to have a show car finish on a daily driver. If its a weekend car, I get it. On a daily driver, its just impossible unless you spend $$$$ on keeping your paint pristine.

True, but there is no harm in doing your best to keep the paint as nice as possible. Regular washings and a full detail once-twice a year will keep things in check.

Things are bound to happen, though. That's why I'm happy that I went with space gray. It hides imperfections pretty well.
