Going to order 09 M3 coupe - Is $500 over invoice a fair price?
It seems like some people are getting their cars for invoice, but my local dealer wont budge. Is $500 over invoice a good price or should I be able to do better if I shop around?

Damn, you guys have way better deal than the WA area. I got $800 over invoice and that is the best so far I can find and hear in the WA area. Got the deal only b/c I know most the sales and the managers here in one of the dealer.

Is this a bad time to say that I got a 5% discount and a demo car with DCT for a whole weekend?
How come you guys are all paying over the invoice price?

Could you do better? Probably. Is it worth your time? Doubtful. Time or money...pick one.
The suggestion to buy it at invoice at a dealer on the east coast is a good one...if you live on the on the east coast. For somebody livign in Washington, not so much. You will either have to pay to ship it (probaby at least $1500) or you will have to fly out there and drive it back...again back to time or money. And before somebody says courtesy delivery- don't as it isn't that common of a thing. Why would your local dealer be willing to do such a thing? You could have bought from them, but went with somebody else to buy b/c they gave you a few hundred dollars off? Why should the dealer deliver your car and let another dealer get the profit? |

it would be good to know how many have been paying the $689 dealer fee. I was able to get my 2009 E92 M3 for $750 over invoice and no dealer fee.
By the way $500 over invoice is more than fair. Actually is a really good deal as long as the dealership doesn't charge the dealer fee included on the purchase order. |

IMO, I think $500 is not bad. I would do a search here though. People were getting $1,000 and under on orders back in January. You would think with the economy, being more than halfway through the model year, etc., that they'd be dealing lower by now.
With that being said, GoBuffs gives good advise... time v. money. Good luck.

I am paying $500 over invoice for my ED and was offered the same for domestic delivery. My CA has been excellent throughout this ED process/paperwork and has definitely earned it.
Like the other poster said, is it really worth your time to negotiate a couple hundred dollars? I'm sure most of you throw that away on dinner. $500 is fair...everyone needs to make a few bucks to be happy, right? We don't work for free |

Make your dealerships compete with each other man. I did and I saved THOUSANDS!! My as built price on BMWUSA was $56,625 + ttl, and I ordered it for $56K out the door. I made 3 of my local dealerships compete for the best price to win me over....And fortunately I got a pretty reasonable deal.
