Those who received their M3s sometime this year, what production date do you guys have? I just got a 2013 (will post pics soon) and found the production date to be 08/12, that is August, 2012. Seems kind of late for a 2013 car bought in June, 2013, doesn't it?

That's what it says on the inside of the door and when I decode the VIN #. Does anyone else have different numbers?

that's not that unusual. for some dealers M3s don't fly off the lots. i've seen a couple that sat there for 6 months or so.

your dealer could've also got your car in trade from a dealer that had it sitting there for awhile as well.

a lot of the cars mentioned here are from people who special ordered from a dealer, and were built sometime in 2013.

I am assuming there wouldn't be any difference between a 2013 M3 built in 2012 vs in 2013? They still use the same materials and production process, right? Or would the same model with a later production date be more desirable / cost more?

My 2013 was produced in July 2012 (but I got the car as soon as it arrived at the dealership). There should no differences with later production MY 2013 cars....... with the exception of possibly updated software. Sometimes there are model year changes within the same model year, which is why you see signatures like 2011.5, but I've not seen this for MY 2013.

I know my car received the latest software (when they built the car), which is upgraded software as compared to..... those installed in MY 2011 or MY 2012 (can't remember exactly). I haven't been on the boards that much in the last months... so you could do a search on these boards to determine the latest software.

The only thing is that the car sat on the lot for a number of months. I don't think that would be a problem in itself, if the car starts up and drives fine. My previous 335 sat on a lot for a few months and got tree sap dropped on it. Which was hard to remove. So my dealer paid the tab for a professional detailer to do it.

Build date was June 15th. I picked up car in Munich on Thu. June 27th and spent 4 great days in Europe. Was able to go to the Stelvio Pass and other alpine passes. Also stopped in Stuttgart at Porsche musuem. Finally full day at the Nurburgring on Sunday, June 30th. Dropped car off in Frankfurt on Monday, July 1st. Just shipped from Bremerhaven on 7/15 on the Liberty. Expect US delivery mid-August.

Good thing mine was in the showroom the whole time! The only thing that's strange is the 70km on the odo when I got it. Maybe they moved the car from another dealer, which is like 40km away, since the dealership is quite new. I upgraded the media software myself from the BMW website and the dealer agreed to install the 2012 maps on it because it came with the 2011 maps.

Is that high beam assist option the one that comes with a camera near the rear view mirror? I thought mine would have that option since I got all the options, but I guess it's not available in Canada.

It's nice you kept the ED plates. And how did you get the 1M licence plate?!? Did you have to buy it from someone or were you really the only one in Texas to get it first? I'm guessing you guys don't need to have license plates in the front?
