New DCT Shift Boot Design
** Follow up post ** I promise im not trying to spam this group, I simply receive a lot of interest when I do happen to post, so I try to update those who are interested with the new designs when I finish them up 😅 If its ever too much just let me know haha For this particular job I decided to offer to paint the (normally silver) bezel Gloss Black, however, I want to make this very clear for anyone who may be interested in going the same route, ** I AM NOT a professional painter, I DO NOT have access to professional paint tools, and this is all done with RATTLE CANS ** The only reason I even offered to do it is because after several messages back and forth with the owner, we both agreed that for him to either have this painted, or have to paint it himself, would require him to have to finish assembling his DCT knob/boot on his own, and given the amount of time/energy/and the fact that I already had the supplies to do the job, he was ok with simply paying a little more to have me do the work for him in order to save him the headache. This isnt something that id typically offer to do simply becuase i pride myself for doing high quality work, and rattle can paint jobs are far from that, but i made sure to clarify that with the owner that my paint skills and my sewing skills are far from the same, so for that, i appreciate him for trusting me to do the work. Now I will say, all things considered, the paint job came out far better than I anticipated, and unless it was specifically addressed, id have a hard time believing that anyone would assume it was a rattle can job. All of that to say, here is my latest project for yet another fellow enthusiast, an Alcantara wrapped DCT shift boot w/ BMW color cross stitch w/ a freshly painted Gloss Black bezel. I am enjoying being able to refresh these old BMW parts for you guys, and I will be looking forward to the ongoing support and interest in my work, thank you for checking it out! 🙏🏽 |

Looks pretty good. I wonder how hard would it be to change out the leather only on an already painted knob.

What is included for the $150-175 price point? Is it just painting the knob? Is the alcantara included? Beautiful final product!

Thank you for the kind words! The price range of $150-$175 includes the entire re-wrap & the stitch color/design of your choice (out of my available thread colors of course). Any paint work, if I decided to go through with it, would be a slightly higher additional cost added to that above amount.

He did my dct boot & ebrake boot done with the alcantara & the tri color stitching and i just got it this monday (pics posting hopefully tonight) i sent a thank you message but no response, i can say this is a side gig for him & he may simply be busy at the moment however his work is GRADE A in my opinion. Quality matches oem type quality & aint nothing better that. To sum it up at the prices he is offering i would suggest just stay patient until he is back around lol

Whats going on everyone, I just wanted to hop in here really quick and give everyone an update. On New Years day I found out that I tested positive for Covid, and wasn't cleared to go back to work until the 10th, then on the 14th I had a very important certification test for my 9-5 job that I decided to dedicate the majority of my free time to in order to study, then I worked all this week, and as of this weekend I have a DCT boot/Parking brake boot I have to start/finish for someone. Not trying to make excuses, things have simply been a little hectic and with all of that I've been trying to play catch up before I start taking more work.
I do apologize for not getting back to anyone who has PM'd me, I figured id just get back to everyone once I can take work again vs. having anyone have to wait 2-3 weeks to get their items back. So with that, again I do apologize, but life happens, and similar to what @lpinem3 said, this is in fact a side project for me, so its not my most important thing I have going on, which isn't to say I dont want to do the work, as I love having my work in your guys' builds, I just dont want to over promise and under deliver, because of course quality of work is my biggest factor when it comes to doing this stuff. So thank you to those of you who are interested, I promise to get back to everyone soon, and I appreciate your interest in my work 🙏🏽 |
