2012 650i x-drive coupe -or- 2012-13 GTR(depending on the wait)
I was a previous e92 m3, and e60 m5 owner....i sold those cars about 2 years ago, and now have a 2011 cts-v sedan(6mt), and a 2011 Porsche Panamera 4s. I leased the cts-v considering, im not the biggest fan of american made vehicles, even though the V is really luxurious and sporty. So it's about time the cts-v is up on it's lease, and i'm stuck between two cars that I really love, but the only problem is they're completely different. One of the cars I loved was the new 650i coupe, it was simply amazing when i drove it. It had a good kick of power, and the interior was just absolutely amazing, and I feel like the exterior is quite sexy too. Another car, that I've always wanted to get was a Nissan GTR, and considering the 2012 got some incredible modifications, i was seriously considering that until I drove the 650i. Also, i know the 2013 gtr has been rumored to get another +40hp bump, and i think i'd feel pretty stupid just buying a 2012 when a few months later there's a slightly better version out. Anyways guys, i'd love to here what you think on those two cars.....and i apologize cuz i know this is an M forum.

without sounding to biased the new 6 series coupe is one of the sexiest cars i have seen in a while. When we got are first couple coupes in i was instantly in love. To me it sounds like you are comparing a luxury coupe to a race car. What sort of needs do you need for the car? GTR are awesome cars and ridiculous fast, but i know what you mean something about that new 6 series just grabs your attention

Go with the GTR, especially if you're keeping the Panamera. The 650i is a nice upscale luxury car, but I feel like you probably already have that with the Panamera. The GTR might be a little unrefined, but it will probably be one the fastest cars you'll ever drive, plus with a few mods it attracts a lot of attention.

Make a list of what you are looking for in this vehicle, and see which way the list pulls towards...
For example...Free Service, Convertible, Comfortable Soft Ride, Seats 4 - this would be towards the 650i. Or...Extremely fast, attention grabbing, supercar, ....this would be the GTR. I think the 650i, will be a bit 'meh' when you see the m6 - given the choice between a 650i and a GTR, I would go GTR, but a (new)M6 and GTR...now that would be a very close call... |

I'd go with the GTR, solely because dynamically I believe the 6 series is just a big fat cruiser and doesn't quite hold to its roots like other BMW models. It's nice, and I know it was a replacement for the "8" but it just doesn't do anything for me. I'd rather have a CL550/CLS550 if I were in that market

I have to agree with most and go with the GTR. We have a 650 and it's not very exciting.

2012 changed to 36k miles for fluid change. And you can get it done for 1300 or less if you buy your own fluids. Brakes can be done aftermarket for 3.5-4k at 30k miles if you don't track it.

It is depends on you, if you want a sports car obvious the GTR is your option, without talking the luxury part the 650i cant catch up the GTR in any ways.
If you just want a comfortable daily vehicle then why you don't pick up the new 650i? |

As people have said it's really an apples and oranges kind of comparison.
The GTR is a lot more brutal as a DD and touring type car. It's loud(I disconnected the BT because I felt like I was 90 saying "huh?" all the time) and harsh compared to the 6 series. If you can deal with that go for the GTR. The performance is in a different league. If you can't, I'd say wait for the M6. BTW, I'll give you a deal on a 2012 GTR once the 2013 arrives |

i test drove a 650 at a BMW event, and put it through it's paces. It's by no means anything close to what a GTR will be like, it's just a big heavy GT car.
