Problem with my M3.. what is it?

So my M3 does this weird thing and its 2 specific weird things that have happened and I'm hoping someone here knows what i might be or what it is!

2011 DCT m3 e92, 50k miles

1) This has happened 3 times now, i will be in D and waiting at a red light and the rev will be below 1k, and all of a sudden it starts to rev up and down and over again for about 4`5 revs and it goes from 500-1500 like as if i am barely tapping the gas and revving up and down. This is while in Drive and was waiting at a red light 3 times.

2) This is the weird one, so basically i will be driving and it will feel like as i give more gas it jerks and slows down for now reason, and then 3 seconds later its fine? So first time it happened i was in 4th gear and was kind of pushing it and all of a sudden it had a jerky feeling in the pedal and felt like it was slowing down, so i let off and put it in 5th and drove slowly and it seemed fine, second time i was in 2nd coming around a turn and it did the same thing and got a bit jerky and slowed down for 2 seconds as i gave it gas, then i let off and when i gave gas again it was fine, and the last and final time it happened i was in D going on the onramp to the freeway and it had the same jerky slowing down feeling as i gave it gas so i let off and it went away after couple seconds.

So if anyone has had this, or knows what it is or may be, please share I am curious what this is, i have a full AM warranty and hope its nothing serious but if it is SOMETHING that hopefully its covered, thank you all for your input and information!

Sounds like an idle control valve or a low pressure fuel sensor to me.

Thanks, I'm curious if there is a way to check if these have gone bad? Because all i know now is from what I've said, or a way to prove that one of these is the problem? Thanks again

Tried to scan the car? Maybe Carly could help provide indications?

Check your alternator.

Erratic idle could be the fuel tank breather valve. It does it to me only when outside temp is below 5C and humidity high, and for the first 5 mins, but almost every time when stopping after 100 yards.
Or as Mike said, the idle control valve, or maybe just maybe the spark plugs.

I'm with Mike -- and I'm leaning towards the ICV or something similar. Those are classic symptoms of a vacuum leak.

These symptoms with the idle going up and down while stopped is the same as when I'm giving it gas and it slows the car down? I will have it plugged in to check the computer, as well as the alternator as indicated above and the ICV or Fuel pressure sensor! Thanks to all for the info, hopefully i can get this resolved and figured out!

Yes, because there is always vacuum and it will increase/decrease with load. An engine is basically a glorified vacuum pump.
