M235iR time at COTA

In practice this morning (Pirelli World Challenge) the BMW M235iR set the fastest time of ~2.29 in TC. How does this time compare to other BMW DE or race cars. (Never been and don't know COTA myself)

from M3forum.

As a reference, that was PoBoyR6's first (and only) visit to COTA. I believe he could be at 2:29 or below on better tires. My buddy does 2:24's in his GT3 RS.

I only have a handful of laps at COTA, I did a 2:27 in a GTS3 E46 with several seconds to spare.

Are they allowed to tune the m235i Racing?

And some m235iR details for those interested:

FWIW, I had an M2 on early pre-order before I ditched my spot and bought an e92 m3 instead.

This is good info. It's dangerous to compare times from different days and drivers but it would make sense that the M235iR is slightly slower than a GTS3 car. What would be interesting is if BMW would make a M2 GT4. That is something I would consider buying.

M235i racing likely sandbagging that qualifying time. It walked the field today.

I don't see it going all season without being detuned somehow.

Glancing at times it looks like the GTS (GT4) cars are roughly 10 sec faster at ~2:20. Then the GT (GT3) cars are about another 10 sec faster at ~2:10
