Coolant + Brown Stuff

I took the cap off the coolant today to just check it. I noticed brown stuff floating around in there. Anyone ever see this or know what it is? No, I didn't crap in there either. It is only a year old. Guess I will have to have them flush it when it goes in for the yearly check.

So you will have them "flush" the "brown stuff"?

Seriously though, what is the shape and size of that stuff? Is it rust?

Did any brown stuff stay glued on coolant cap?If no, you should be OK...But, if yes you have serious problems...First problem is bad water pump, and second problem is bad head gasket...very easy to check...good luck...

I would have the dealer do an inspection.

I took it to the dealer and they said someone put oil in the coolant. The best part is the car has only been touched by 2 BMW dealers. The retards that did the 1200 mile change must of done something stupid. The car passed all of the pressure/leak checks on cylinders and coolant system. They flushed it out real good and now we will see what happens next for the next few weeks.

I doubt that is the end of it. Mistaking the coolant cap and the oil cap is pretty far fetched. If I had to guess, you're leaking oil into your coolant system. I'd get a second opinion. If not, then I suppose just wait it out and see if it happens again.

They did cylinder pressure checks and a pressure check of the coolant system and it all cam back good. They changed the oil and flushed the coolant. I will go out today and see if there is any thing in it. I have had it back for a few days now. If nothing is in there then the idiots that did the 1200 mile check put oil in there.

Drive it leisurely. Don't push it; just in case there is a leak somewhere. I would drive it about 1000 miles. By then something should show up.
