E9X M3 vs CLK550

Hey guys,

a somewhat of a local friend of mine swears that his CLK550 can "beat" the M3 in a drag.

I'm nearly 100% sure I can take the CLK550 with my C55.

Let's count stock numbers.

1. C55- (mine is modded, but let's say its stock)-
368hp/376lb-tq, 0-60@4.7s

2. CLK550
382hp/390lb-tq, 0-60@5.2s

3. E90/92 M3
414hp/295ft-tq, 0-60@4.5s DCT

just counting numbers the m3 can take his CLK in a heartbeat.
He swears that he raced multiple M3s, and everytime he'll "eat them"

anybody with a E9x M raced a CLK550?

I can't wait to break in my M3, and show him the power.

CLK55 is a amg, and clk500/550 is just the v8 version of the regular CLK, if the 550 is to be put against the M3, why would they even make a 63amg? some on the mb forums is backing him up, but some are saying he's an idiot as well. Don't get me wrong, the 550 is a fast car, just not a supercar.

seen it first hand

Now the new one has same power i believe and might be a little heavier...

The CLK550 is a great car, I had one for 3 years and enjoyed every minute with it.

Loved the pillar-less windows, that was awesome, the handling was OK, and the 382hp V8 was certainly plenty in the city.

Mercedes makes a wonderful silver metallic as well, much better than BMW's silver.

Driven my buddies 07 clk500 plenty of tires, its definately quick, alot of useable torque. Very nice car, but definately diff feeling then an e46/e9x, its very numb.

the CLK550s only came in ONE body, its a W209 Body style, years 2007+ then they discontinued it for 2010 and became the E-Class coupe.

As a benz guy,i'm not giving it much credit because i know its not gonna take the M3

That would be the new E 550 Coupe correct? If so NOT A FAT KIDS CHANCE IN THE PRODUCE ISLE. They are nice, VERY nice cruisers, not sports cars. WAY too heavy. The only thing the E550 Coupe is going to win against an E9X M is a head on collision.

The E9x M3 will simply eat the CLK550 for breakfast. Plain and simple. From a dig, from a roll, on the moon, wherever.

The CLK550 however, is definitely faster than an E46 M3 and a C55 AMG. Keep in mind that the CLK550 has more hp than a w209 CLK55 AMG, and will outrun it.

Yeap, the E550 Coupe is the now-gone CLK line. I believe it's based on the C-class platform (Mercedes FAIL)

I fully agree, very nice cruisers, not sports cars, way too heavy.

I've raced a CLK550 in a C55amg. C55 definitely pulled on the clk by quite a bit..

Are you positive it was a CLK550 coupe and not a CLK500? Big difference. The CLK550 is only 180lbs heavier but has a 20hp advantage over the C55. This is assuming both are stock. Also, keep in mind that the CLK550 is slightly faster than a CLK55 AMG.
