Red sidemarker will get you pulled over in my area. I had that once on a white car and they gave me hell until I changed it. They said it was like imitating police cars...go fig

i saw somebody once painted the black inside of the mirror (the black you see surrounding the mirror when looking into it) red to go along with red accents on the car. I thought it looked awesome.

maybe paint the mirror cap black or get a cf one (or even white) and then paint the mirror housing lsb. That would be pretty cool and not look overpowering from the head on shot.

I'll try to find the pic of the mirror im referencing.
