How many miles did your new M3 have?
I'm hoping the answer is 0.
I'd really hate to get to the dealer to find my special order M3 has 1 mile cause they took a joyride around the block. It's like being at the alter with what you thought was going to be a virgin wife, then find out she slept with your best man just last night. |

I'm pretty sure they do drive it a few miles.

It can range anywhere from 3-15 from what I have seen.
I dont know exactly how the miles get on there but I would assume its a combination of the factory/boat/port activity simply moving the cars around from location to location.

At Welt, 0.3 miles on the odometer.
Stuff does happen, but if you're really paranoid, figure out when the next shipment of cars is arriving at your dealership, come unannounced, and spend an hour or two watching the process. I think anyone would be satisfied with what they see. Nobody goes home with a paycheck if that car isn't able to be sold for whatever reason. A scratch coming off the truck, weird cupping on tires, etc. are all reasons a customer will walk away from a sale.

5 miles on mine. Keep in mind the car is driven off the assembly line, then driven to a storage lot on-site, then it is put on a truck for delivery to the port. Once off-loaded at the port it is driven to a storage lot before being driven onto the ship. Reverse the process upon arrival in the US port and ultimately the dealer. Finally the dealer drives it to fill the gas tank before delivery. It is not unreasonable to have a few miles on the car because of this...

We know you're stepping up from a 328i, but seriously, get over it. You want to see pain? Swing by First Methodist Tuesday nights, see the guys who ordered Atlantis Blue Individual paint and receive Atlantic Blue on a European Delivery instead. That's pain. Like others have said, unless you're picking up from the Welt (even they have a fraction of a mile on them), expect a few miles as they have to load, ship the car clear across the ocean, unload, load onto transporter, and unload at the dealership. 6 miles on mine. I think for an ordered car anything under 15 is fine. Would be concerned at around 30-40. A car you buy off the lot is easy. Just ask what the mileage is before you buy it.

Mine had 10 miles on it when I did the PCD. I think they have plenty of M3s around there to play with and probably don't need to use mine to play with. At least I hope that was the case.

2 or 3 miles on mine when I took delivery at a dealer about 75 miles from the Regensburg factory. It had no port related miles, but was driven a little obviously.
