But performance isnt everything, I could buy an old civic and make it faster than a M3. My 20 year old TT 300zx is faster than a stock M3. But my M3 is amazingly more comfortable, doesnt rattle (Evo was horrible about rattles), has performance, has looks that kill, all the technology in the world, and is a BMW. Thats what I paid the extra cash for =)
LOL after spending over 15+k on my evo it feels like it shouldnt be driving on the road LMAO I mean its such a shit ride after adding a bunch of mods,, so stiff and feel every small crack in the road,, haha still love it but would love to not feel sick after an hr ride LOL.. but fun as hell on the track

Yeah its funny, i actually drove 6 hours in the Evo to pick up my M3 in NC. On the way back in the M3 it really hit me how loud and stiff the Evo was in comparison to the M3. Pretty funny since Evo IX people complain the Evo X is "too refined and soft" lol. One thing I can say though is that Evo X seats are still some of the best seats I have ever had.

for sure I love the recaros!!
How are the M3s seats ripping around a track? I mean does it hold
well or do u have to re adjust your body slightly after taking a hard turn?

I've found that I have to take most, if not all, of the lumbar support out when on the track so the bolsters can really hold me in place or I'll slide out a bit and need to readjust.

I was at Summit Point race track over the weekend with my E46 M3. One thing I started to notice about the Evos and STIs is that even my mostly stock E46 M3 would start running them down at speeds of over 100 mph. I always kind of thought this when comparing my E46 M3 to my old Evo VIII (and my Evo was running significantly more power as well), so maybe it wasn't just me...

So I suspect that with an E92 the disparity would be even greater. I was able to do this on an Evo X, and an older STI (not the new one, didn't see any there). I don't know if these cars were stock or not power-wise.

Maybe it is an aero-dynamics or AWD thing? Or both? I don't know. It could have also just been the drivers but this was in a straight line and I don't think I was carrying that much more speed than they were when entering the corner before the main half-mile long straight.

totally agree. the recaro in the evo felt like heaven. by far the best seat i have ever sat in. it hugged you like a condom and provided support at all the right spot. better than the 911 seat, gtr, m3, s5 that i sat in at the car show.

I currently own an '07 STi; I find any STi made after to look like a minivan; I'm speaking in regards to the hatch...

I'm hoping to be getting in to an M3, or at least a 335iS next year... just waiting till the STi is completed, featured, parted, and sold-

The only thing the STi has is the ease of modification, period-

Here's my old '05 330Ci ZHP w/ boost- Technik, HKS, Brembo, BBS, Vorsteiner

Here's my '07 STi - Ohlins, AIM, ACPT, ARC, Tomei, Advan, Voltex, Status-

+1000% no matter the price differential, to even compare an STI to a new M3 is not worthy of any more discussion. Can you imagine being a business man pulling up to a meeting in an STI with all of those ricky racer rear fins, slammed to the ground, etc? Gimme a break boyz

Who cares about the straight line speed...most people own the M3 (me included) for the bragging rights. Its the best of the best 'vert (without going ferrari), and I can afford it. Heavy modded 3 series are for posers that can't afford the real thing. Sorry
