6MT Race Build: OS Giken Race Clutch/Flywheel, Solid Bushings & CAE Chassis shifter

Just kicking into high gear on the race build, just wanted to show a quick teaser some parts before being installed.

OS Giken Clutch/Flywheel

Ultimate Clutch Pedal

CAE Shifter

The chassis shifter requires solid bushings installed beforehand to limit movement, here's a quick sneak peek of the rapid prototypes (RPs) being test-fitted and verified before the production pieces get milled:

Rear Subframe RP

Differential RP

The combo should make for a near bulletproof package and take extended abuse we have intended for it.

Awesome! Sub'd! I'm looking forward to watching this build. Who's cage is that? Looks a lot like one of Turner's.

are you going with coated bearings and ARP conrod bolts?

looks awesome!

those shifters really only require poly (at a min) or solid motor/trans mounts for anyone who wants to use one on a street car. Doing all of them is a plus though.

That first pic is sick!

Precision Chassis works in AZ did the fabwork on the cage.

Did the rod bearings just last week, went with ARP bolts and WPC treated bearings. Also had the oil pan shipped off to VAC for their baffle kit to be installed.

Here's a peek inside:

You're absolutely right, poly would work as well - I should have clarified. Since this will never see street use - all bushings will be replaced for aluminum.

That OS Giken is a bad bitch. I'm curious to get y'alls feedback on pedal feel once it is driven. What's the TQ rating on that particular model, and is the flywheel lightened or stock weight?

I ran this spec OSG for 20k miles on my daily driven E92. Pedal is HEAVY . I've since gone back to OEM clutch + flywheel

There are not many clutch options for M3, but we went with the clutch since we'll be installing an OS Giken LSD as part of this build, as well as being local to our facility.

Clutch/Flywheel assembly is slight lighter than stock, not by much. Turner also uses the same clutch on their Grand Am cars, I'll get you some feedback once we get all the components installed.

Almost a shame to cover this up, the pieces are simply beautiful.

No specific reason, but like to keep things matched as much as possibly to eliminate any variables. Support goes a long way, it's really convenient when we can work with companies that are local and deal with one-on-one in person.

We'll see how this system performs and look into other options if there are possible improvements to be made.

Great call on the VAC baffled oil pan mod.

Tom can you weigh the clutch assembly, and if possible the flywheel and disc assembly separately? I've got weights for OEM and aftermarket ACT clutch. Maybe it's time to start an aftermarket clutch wiki thread.

Clutch/flywheel have already been installed, OS Giken claims a 5% overall weight reduction.
