Quick Deceleration/Rubber Band Feeling - DCT

I recently purchased a e92 last month. I noticed the car does town way to quick when I take my foot off the pedal. Feels like the car pulls back when I take my foot off. It kinda feels like a rubber band. Is this normal? Can anyone advise? Thanks!

yes normal.... I remember thinking the same thing when I got mine. It's engine 'braking'.

Adjust the shift setting up and the rubber band will turn into a DCT.

Scrippy is right on. 1:12 compression = massive engine brake. High DCT settings = rev match rather than rubber band => The way it should be set...😎

Engine braking is much less expensive than engine breaking!

This deceleration is normal on manual transmission cars and DCT-style cars because there is a solid connection (the clutch disc/pressure plate/flywheel) between the drive wheels and the engine, and in any modern car when you lift off the gas entirely, zero fuel is going to the cylinders, so the action of the pistons compressing air provides mechanical resistance. (You also use zero fuel when coasting down in a fuel-injected car, which is awesome on mountain roads because you can just downshift, safe fuel and save your brakes.)

Automatic transmissions minimize this effect, particularly at lower speeds when the deceleration is most pronounced, because instead of a rigid mechanical connection, there's a fluid buffer in the torque converter.

You'll learn to smooth out your throttle inputs to minimize the rubber-banding. It sounds silly to even mention but make sure you're anchoring your right heel on the floor while you press the gas, apparently a lot of students at those drive-a-NASCAR places get newcomers who aren't used to manuals, and the biggest mistake they make is trying to push the gas pedal on its own, which results in a lot of throttle bouncing as the car lunges forward and then snap-decelerates as they try to feel out the curve.

You should feel the engine braking on a Panigale
