New Ohlins BMU MU40S1 - General Talk

Hello,

Looking at ordering a new suspension set up sooner rather than later. I am in the market for a single way coilover that offers performance at the track with some comfort on the street still.

I have ran the Ohlins RT's V2's on street and track with ground control camber plates and a corner balance on the car and I was extremely impressed. I was going to order another set of RT's but now am thinking about trying out their more track orientated coilover the MU40S1. I like the idea of better valving, swift springs, shorter springs, and camber plates all in one.

My main question is who has any feedback on these? Brett (Slicer) had posted a video comparing both these side by side (Rt's vs MU40S1) which was my first time seeing them. Does anyone have these currently set on their car and can provide feedback?

I have had both the R/T first and I transitioned to the the dedicated track setup for my E92. Spring rates are bumped up with the dedicated track setup so doesnt ride as smooth as the R/T but not overly harsh on the street. Have 2 track days on them so far and they feel great. They feel a lot tighter on the track compared to the R/T.

Camber plates are made by Vorshlag in the Ohlins colors and the springs are made by Swift to Ohlins specs to match the valving. We have done a few sets of them so far and everyone has been really happy with them.

I think 3DM guide best explains it. It even clears 18x10et25 without fuss as it was designed for 275/35/18 R compound 18x10et25 wheels in mind.

Hey Kevin, I was talking to Gary he said you had only good things to say about them. Have you been playing around with the dampening much? How many clicks out are you running for street vs track? E92 or E90 and how much is the car currently weighing?

I read the guide I think Brett shared a little more information than 3DM but I have worked with them before on some parts I needed for my Ohlins RT's great customer service.

Visiting the product page if the dedicated set provides the same info he shared. 👍

Matt @ Obsessed garage did a sort of hybrid between the Dedicated Track and a standard RnT. I believe he had standard valving with stiffer linear springs and a few other differences. He has a fiew vids on YT installing/talking about them.

His suspension is the 3DM Motorsports track ready kit, but he picked a lower spring rate. Based on the R&T. Would be the way I go over the Dedicated Track, as I'm more interested in maintaining street comfort.

I really don't think they will be that bad, the RT's were so plush on street it was like a yacht it felt like. Im hoping if I just run the dampeners 10-15 clicks out I should be fine. The car is only a weekend car mostly between canyons and street with 3-4 track days a year what I am hoping for. I've driven on Ohlins TTX's before and thought those would be harsh but they were not bad at all.

Oh yeah, Gary was asking me about them the other day. I havent played around with the settings too much. I just set them 7 clicks from full stiff all the time. Havent really played around as far as other setting. Right now my car is 3425 lbs.

7 clicks from full stiff even on track? I was 2 clicks from full stiff on my RT's at track.

I'm sure this comes up a lot but I appreciate feedback from many sources!

How do these compare to clubsports (2way). Is the lack of rebound adjustment that make or break?

Obviously these have more aggressive spring rates than the clubsports but I'm sure paired with these dampers, it's still pretty manageable for a weekend street driver and handful of track days a year?

Have these on my car now and just finished Chuckwalla on them past week.. Amazing coils very happy with my purchase. Compared these to the Road and Tracks its leaps and bounds. Curbs no problem (@ track), street driving easy, great overall really enjoying them only have good things to say. I have not personally owned clubsports so I can't speak on those.
I ran 9F 15R for Track, messing around on street im 18F and 24R (dampening) Also corner balanced car so Im not dumped..

Looks they renamed a bunch of stuff

Mi40S1 = R&T original 342/685 spring rate
MU40S1 = Dedicated Track 685/1000 spring rate

I have a feeling they just renamed it since MU40 doens't exist on Ohlins page anymore.
