Turner TrackSport Slotted Rotor OEM Replacements

Looks like Turner is now offering a new Slotted OEM rotor replacement for our cars. StopTech stopped making their front 2-piece set last year and the GiroDisc option is priced at 1,100 for just the fronts....
These seem like a nice alternative to replacing with OEM. Might pull the trigger on a rear set for my car. Anyone have any thoughts?

Turner E9X M3 TrackSport Rotors
Fits BMW: E46 M3 S54

Marketing snafu? I don't see E9X sizes listed.

I would be interesting in the rears too just for the sake of having non-Crossdrilled lol

Same here. I really want blanks or slotted when I replace my rear rotors soon

It's their fault as the page wasnt fixed for E9x links. Not yours!

The only problem with the ECS stuff (it’s ECS, not Turner now) is that the replaceable ring claim maybe myth. They have gone through several versions and previous purchasers have been unable to actually buy replacement rings and were instead offered discounts on new rotors. Maybe this time things are different, maybe not. Until proven over time, I’d stick with PFC’s option if StopTech no longer offers them and you want 2 piece rotors.

I don’t track my car so I don’t consume rotors. At 105k, I am on my first set of stock replacements. I drive year round in NH so the rotor vanes were full of rust and probably not doing a great job cooling. I forget the mileage when I changed them a few years ago — probably around 80k, but the fronts were below spec and the rears were within.

Oh wow interestingggg, I definitely don’t want to spend double the cost of OEM unless I can replace the rings, if I can’t replace the rings then maybe it’s worth looking for something else... hmmm

I'd like to weigh in on this topic... A year ago I was at the BMW CCA Oktoberfest meetup in SC. I noticed a very nice looking set of slotted 2 piece rotors on the E9x M3 that Turner/ECS had there. I inquired about them and here's what I was given...

They were a test set of these new rotors. I asked about availability of them and told to just be patient and wait. They explained to me that anything bearing the Turner name on it is a true performance part. They explained that Will Turner was extremely demanding that ANY Turner parts are pure performance, not some showy garbage for parking lot meets. The guys there told me that the ECS 2 piece rotors (the slotted and drilled ones that have been out for a while) are actually not great performers. They said if you just want parts to look the part and be cool at Cars and Coffee meets, then sure, get ECS branded parts... But if you want REAL performance parts that you can track, you should get the Turner stuff. They explain that all Turner parts get thorough track testing, and nothing gets released until it is 100% perfect.

I explained that I do an occasional track day with my M3, but mostly just want to have 110% confidence in my brakes to be able to absolutely stand on them and have the car respond well. I completely cooked my OEM rotors and am now on my 3rd set. I've seen cracks from the drilled rotors, so they told me to wait for these and I would not be disappointed. I've waited a year, and these will almost undoubtedly be on my car soon.

As mentioned above, the issue with ECS previously has been that they sell a 2-piece rotor in which you can't just replace the rings - such a waste. I suspect the situation will be the same as ECS now owns Turner, which makes the Girodiscs more attractive even though the initial purchase price is slightly more. Otherwise they look like appealing options for OEM brakes.

What about the weight ECS TMS???

The ECS items were a smidgen lighter (~0.5Kg by memory for each rotor) perhaps there's no weight saving (not cross drilled) hence why they haven't mentioned anything?

I ended up getting a pair of tms fronts. Each front rotor weights 21.4lbs versus the stock 22.8lbs and has 48 vanes. I don't know how many vanes stock fronts have.

Update. After 2 20min sessions at a local track with DS2500 pad, one of the front rotors have already developed a hairline crack from edge to 1/3 of the way in the center. I will be reaching out to Turner.

they asked me to buy a new rotor and return the cracked one. After a bit back and forth I have received a refund on the rotor that has cracked.

I took the car to another full-day track day and the rotors definitely performed better than stock. I had no brake vibration at all (versus plenty with stock rotors) and had much better consistency and trust in braking.
