Although louder, After new VAC rod bearings, I had two oil changes with LM, 6k intervals, and blackstone reports were 2ppm and 1 and 0 ppm for copper and lead respectively.
Just went back to TWS, so we'll see if I get any metal increases with the dealership stuff. The valvetrain noise is definitely less with TWS. |

Just an FYI, the SAE has some papers out there about engine noise as a result of different lubricants of the same viscosity. Their conclusion was that noise and protection aren't well correlated.
In other words, oil that makes the car noisy doesn't mean something bad is happening, but quiet oil doesn't mean everything is fine.

I believe it. Almost non-existant metal content with Liquimoly while being dramatically louder was surprising, but shows in my case little/no correlation. If I see any increase of metal with TWS, I'm definitely going back to the LM.

Thanks for posting the info. Intuitively, it doesn't compute, but SAE doesn't just publish stuff to fill a magazine so I'll yield to their testing results. Besides, I used to use Liquimoly oils in my old X5 (but it ran quieter w/them!).
