I wish Apex would go ahead with their 17"x10" ARC8 group buy. What's better than a set of 275/35R18 NT01s for $800? A set of 275/40R17s for $600.

I'm sad the front pfc caliper does not fit clear the 17 barrel! That would be a killer setup and so cheap!!

Is the NT01 a good tire after learning how to track with an RS3? I am looking down the road to what R compound I want to run after my RS3's wear out.

I seriously regret getting the 380mm BBK on my E90. Even though my E90 doesn't see the track anymore, I love the look of the 17s.

Oh yeah...you save a bunch of money too! $200 on the wheels, $200/set of tires AND you avoid any low sidewall profile mounting charges.

I think its a great step after the RS3. The NT01 still gives you a little bit of audible feedback that most rely on unlike Hoosiers or scrubs which will be totally silent until its way too late.

Can you run them in the rain? I did a few sessions in the rain with my RS3's and even a very light snow a couple weeks ago.

When newish you can if it is a light rain. Any standing water on the track and you're going to get into a 'that won't buff out' moment.

Noted...I'll be sure to throw my PSS in the truck for rainy days.

i always figured if i was committed to a track day and it was going to rain i would run my street tires, go slow, and focus on being smooth. i've always read on here how terrible the nt01's are when its wet.

The NT01s are fine in the wet. Not as good as a PSS or RS3 of course but manageable. The limitation, as admranger mentioned, is standing water. Which is why I'd never drive them on the street even on just damp roads. But if there's standing water, street tires are only going to slightly less worse. At that point...probably not a bad idea to not go out.

NT01s in the damp. It was raining and the track continuously gets slicker as the session goes on.

NT01s in the rain...

I was going to use them for autocross/car control, but Jae and a few others got me thinking that I shouldn't. I might buy a set of Conti slicks for $140, so I could try those out? I'll get footage for the lulz.

If I tried to do what you did exiting the grid, I'd probably crash into the wall.

So the best deal right now is still eBay?

The set is about $250 shipped, and for tires that are near new, seems like a deal too good to pass up. But I have no experience with sticky tires and won't be using them on the track for my and others' safety, until I'm comfortable with the behavior of slicks.

Yeah heard they can be hit or miss and don't know if they are a matched set either. Prefer running in new slicks myself as that's where the magic is. First half day is glorious

Tires may look near new but might have blown through heat cycles - must have been off a fast car! Lol

Don't know. Friends have hit or miss like Onemoremod says. Some are still sticky some are a waste of money.

Didn't Paul Walker die partially because the tires on the Porsche were like 8 years old and still original rubber?

They had 1-2 heat cycles and "they would get most HPDE guys through a season," but since my last post, I decided they aren't worth it. For $250-500 more, I can get a new set of good street tires, which will allow me to actually be able to correct oversteer rather than go SOL if I were to reach the threshold of grip (or whatever you'd call it) with racing tires.

If any of y'all want them, I can provide the guy's contact info. $35/tire plus shipping. Located in NC.

Contributing factor, yes. But I don't plan on going 80+ MPH in a 40 zone in public without traction control. They would be strictly for autocross/drift events, where I can practice car control in a safe environment.

I wish it was legal to burn rubber in an empty parking lot.

Scrubs are called scrubs for a reason. I have seen lots of bad results with folks buying others' scrubs. They are worn out. You have no grip. If they still had grip, folks wouldn't sell them. I have seen them bulge, blow out, delaminate, etc. I bought a few sets to make sure my wife had the lack of ABS under control in the SM. She said they sucked. Don't waste your money.

Good to know and glad I didn't go ahead with impulse purchase. I'll stick with street tires for any purchase I make.
