It would really help the skeptics that they showed this performing with a real person driving instead of it being rendered... but I would agree with you it is interesting

Seems like it's a pretty simple princple hopefully wrapped up with a more consumer friendly user experience than some of the typical tools that are out there. $1K doesn't seem like that big of a premium given how much guys are willing to drop on other tools for data logging, camera mounts, etc.

As somebody who's been in design/product development for a while - keep in mind this product just came out which means they probably started doing the go-to-market work in the last 6 months.
Getting film crews out to a real race track during COVID is a lot more prohibitive when people don't want to get on airplanes, not to mention their revenue was down 10% in Q2 so I'm sure somebody saying "Hey I can have an off shore design firm render this for $5K" was the best option they could come up with.
