Tell her she better get a job and/or start saving up if she wants an M3. Unless you were dumb enough to marry her without a prenup- in which case you better just get her the car.

A coworker of my girlfriend drives a manual E92 M3...her previous car was a manual E46 M3...she daily's that car even in the winter.
To OP: I think it really depends on how your finance is. I know recently their family dropped their M coupe in favour of a 997.1 GT3RS... They have a family hauler(R320 CDI 4matic)..so if you can stretch it, you should keep either the X5 or S4 as a family hauler and get a nice fun car yourself too. I reckon a garage of E9X m3/S4 or X5/997 of any sort is a well desired one.

Is she single?? I do have a GF but I'm sure she'll understand once I tell her that she too has an M3. Women in M3 are sooo sexy, I don't see many M3 arround here in suburbia (if any) but once I saw a girl driving a jet black E93 top down and I was looking for a napkin!!!

I'm confused, why is this your decision and why does you driving an S4 matter? I have zero input in my wife's car choices, and she mine, unless it's a money issue. I despise SUVs but I won't tell her she can't have one. She hates wagons and I've owned wagons.
And who cares who has the "nicer" car? All that matters is that you're happy with what YOU drive. I did get a laugh out of her asking if she could have one like a kid asker for her allowance. What happened to women's lib and equality in marriage?? Sheesh... |

Based on all these inputs I think I'll be headed to the BMW dealer soon - and not for us to get a 328 as suggested I'd like to keep the X5 and the M3 but I'm not ready to get rid of the S4 yet. At least this way we'll have a 2 door and a 4 door to get around with...

All things considered, I'd suggest a second S4. I know it's rated ar 333HP butwe all know if it's not making 400 at the crank it's damned close to it. The leather will last forever, it's just as comfortable, less expensive, and if your'e not tracking, it is more than enough handling prowess for a DD. if she doesn't care about the HP difference an A4 would do the trick as well. If you want an SUV I think the Q5 and Q7 are better than the X3 and X5 unless you are looking at the X5M. I've been testdriving a LOT of cars lately and you know what care really surprised me? The new Mini Countryman. Absolutely phenomenal to drive. Highly recommended. |

a sexy wife in a sexy car makes a man happy... i know i am when i see my GF driving my car
if you can afford it, get her what she wants... worse comes to worse, she doesnt like it, you end up with a S4 and a M3 for yourself and then if she asks for an expensive car again, you say "nope, look at that M3, you wanted it, now I have to drive it. this time you're getting a Yaris!" |

Seriously... you're hesitating? My husband did the same thing. Then I drug him out on a test drive and he was . I think he thought he'd get to drive it too. WRONG! So then again, you may to think hard about this one. Because I can tell you, if your wife knows what she's getting into (and it sounds like she does), the only time you'll get to touch the steering wheel is pulling it in & out of the garage for car washes. Or if you're the DD.
