1/8th mi drag experience: 8.3 s with sub 2 second 60'

Finally got my car to the strip today. Just did the 1/8th mile since Irwindale was fairly close and my colleague in his Challenger SRT8 was aching to have a go with me. Out of 4 runs my best was:

R/T ... .957
60' ... 1.995
330' ... 5.506
1/8th ... 8.368
MPH ... 86.32

Performance wise I'm stock, less cat back exhaust. Running 275/35-19 Vreds in the rear. I never ended up using LC and it gave me some fits. The car simply refused to go into LC mode over and over (yes I know exactly how to get in LC mode). I think when waiting in line the transmission got cool enough that the software simply would not allow the mode. Did seem a bit more random than that though as well. Without LC the DCT is indeed a bit of a bitch at the track (discussed prior on the forum). You have to use the pseudo LC mode by simply mashing the gas way early in the lighting sequence so the revs have time to build and the car launches just at green. As you can see I never really got a good R/T. But I still had the best luck with this technique. My other settings were Drivelogic in D5 and using DSC = MDM, EDC = comfort (to try to allow maximum weight transfer). Since using only street tires I found it best to do one quick burnout with DSC off then just stage up. The burnouts can give some terrible axle hop and I hate that feeling of beating on the car a bit when that happens. I REALLY knew this run above was my fastest because MDM gave almost no wheelspeen and the car just took off, no drama at all. I was definitely happy to get a sub 2 second 60' time especially on street tires. I think this would have translated in the 1/4 mi to about a 12.7-12.8 at 110-114.

I also got the thrill of seeing a 12000 hp jet powered drag car. It was UNREAL with the afterburner. It hit the 1/8th in 3.8 or 3.9 at over 200 mph. It was almost exactly like this:
. The staging is as impressive as the run itself. The car set three track records (what a surprise).

Of course my best run was way better than my buddies best in his Challenger so mission accomplished there.
