Be Careful Pushing the Coupe Seats Back
Yesterday I was taking my daughters to gymnastics and they got in the car on the passenger side (coupe). They were buckling in and I flipped the seat back to the normal position. As most of you know, this requires some force to get it to snap back. Right as I pushed it back my daughter leaned forward and the back of the headrest caught her square in the face . So now she has a major black eye with tons of swelling.
I'm feeling like a really bad Dad. The back of the headrest isn't very padded. Just thought I would put a warning out to be careful with the kids back there. |

I sense a recall for safety issues brewing. Time to notify the press.

My boys now pull that seat back themselves specifically to avoid this scenario. Almost had a similar incident but the damage was nothing like you describe. Hope she feels better.

Some great recommendations here. Should make you feel great to be a part of such a warm caring community!
I would say combine at least 2 of the above recommendations: 1. Buy a new M3 sedan, so that it won't happen again, 2. Then tell your daughter you just bought her "414 new ponies", to make up for hurting her. When she asks to see the ponies just pop the hood on your new M3 e90 and show her the V8 -- she'll love it! Trust me, I have daughters. In all seriousness, I do have daughters, I am sorry about the accident. Good to know that the injury will heal. Best |

Latest update: A pony is not in the cards right now, so I picked up a stuffed animal over lunch. That should ease the pain a bit.
Up until now the coupe has actually worked great with the kids, so a sedan isn't a likely outcome either. I'm thinking I may have her just wear her hockey helmet in the car.... |

Sucks. Two other similar things to be aware of with kids and seats:
- If the seat is folded forward and your kid happens to rest their foot in the part of the seat where the hinge is, and you then fold it back, you could crush/break their foot or toes. - Be cautious when using the seat memory buttons. The seat will move into the set position regardless of what might be obstructing it. It's not like a power window where there is a pressure cut off. You could crush someones legs this way, and/or damage the seat. |

If he's going to go that far he might as well just suck it up and get a Minivan.

haha it happens. She'll recover in no time. When I was about 2 yrs old, I was so short standing next to my dad that when we were in England, he was smoking a cigarette (double fail for smoking near kids) and had it down by his side and accidentally burned my face with the lit end of it hahahaha.

Mine doesn't, but if you don't hold it, it sure as hell slams back hard, so I can see how it bruised your little girl. The mechanism should have more friction so it doesn't slam back. Glad she's doing better.
