Since Carplay is offered on the App store, does that mean it gets updated periodically too? If so, how can I update my Carplay version? Do I have to update iDrive?

I'm going a bit off topic...

I found Carplay to be pretty useless for a lot of things. The number of apps that Carplay allows you to use is very small. Also, we're never going to see Google allow Google maps to work on Carplay just because Google wants to sell Android.

I did find Carplay good for playing music (better audio quality than Bluetooth), Siri and the built in Messages app. But you're SOL if you want to use other messaging apps, Google Maps/Waze etc.

It's too bad, lots of potential in car integration. Everyone should standardize around one car system so the users aren't screwed.

I agree car play is pretty limited, but I think it is apple not allowing google maps to be used with it's operating system as apple booted both google maps and you tube apps as bundled apps with ios a few years ago due to the falling out with Google and Alphabet over Android as it copied the ios model and app store. There are third party options that allow you to use google maps and waze as well as third party music apps not officially supported on carplay.

Yeah I def wish Carplay had more 3rd party app integration. I use it for music and maps and it serves its purpose, but could be much better.

I disable CarPlay if that's worth anything. I find it useless for what I want to do and it also makes my phone open all the apps, hindering me from accessing Waze in a timely manner.

lol..I think the one with more memory will actually be faster as is the case with the iphone 7, the smallest memory size has slower memory.

I've always had mine shipped to me, was thinking about having it sent to the apple store for pick up, beats heading downtown over to the FedEx distribution center and waiting in line when they can't deliver it since I'm never there to sign for it. The apple store is walking distance from work and a 10 times better experience, I'm assuming I can walk past the line but there may be a line for people picking up their phone, idk since they don't have very many allocated to each store but there may be more people ordering online and picking up at the store, would like to get cheered on by the geniuses vs. getting cheered on at fedex lol. With any luck they will have the store pickup option but I don't recall seeing it last time I ordered from Apple.

Playing Forza 7 and it’s 10:58pm here in Texas. I’ll buy one for the wife through T-Mobile, then one through Apple for me. I’ve had every phone except my 7 Plus Jet Black on launch day. Here goes nothing!

What 3rd party apps r those? I like Waze so i get a warning about the cops lurking ahead...but can't listen to satellite radio at the same time cause CarPlay always takes over.
