Update on new Schroth Harnesses
Hi Everyone,
I thought I'd start a new thread so that you don't miss this announcement. Despite our best efforts there will be NO GROUP BUY FOR THE SCHROTH HARNESSES. I don't understand it, as you know the interest has been huge. I've included the last couple of emails from Mike regarding the quick-fit harnesses. Don't get mad at Mike as he's just the messenger, but I sure wish we had an alternative as I'm not wild about supporting a vendor who doesn't wish to support his/her potential customers. I don't doubt there is perhaps an no-discount agreement, however, with enough creative thinking there is usually a way around these things. Sorry everyone.. >>> "Mike Long" 10/10/11 11:45 AM >>> Hi Victor, Thanks for the follow up email. I am glad that there is a lot of interest in the quick fit belt. After some discussions with the decision makers here it looks like we will not be able to do a group buy for this product. I will keep your information on file and I will let you know if anything changes. As we get closer to production with this product I will let you know. Thanks again for your interest in Schroth. Have fun at OFest! Sincerely, Mike Long -----Original Message----- From: Victor Hirth [mailto:Victor.Hirth@PalmettoHealth.org] Sent: Monday, October 10, 2011 11:48 AM To: mike@hmsmotorsport.com Subject: RE: updated harness list Hi Mike, Thanks for your note. That is really disappointing. Why is there not any interest in a discount for our group? Seems like a great way to attract customers, unless Schroth has enough business from existing customers that they don't care? Thanks for your efforts nonetheless. Victor Hi Victor, It seems the complication is because of our dealer agreements. None of our dealers are allowed to advertise at a discounted price. Therefore it would not be right for us to offer the belts at a discounted price. If the decision makers here have a change of heart, you will be the first to know. Thanks again for your interest in Schroth. Sincerely, Mike |

Would be nice to get a discount but not that big of a deal. Nobody is compelled to offer GB pricing, especially when they don't have a lot of competition. I don't view that as not supporting your customers.

Well I think they probably know we don't actually have an alternative. It would have been nice to throw us a bone though at least. Maybe free shipping as a sign of good faith. Thanks for trying.

Try a vendor then, and not the distributor. I completely get his point, he can't undercut his customers.

What was I thinking? You cannot have a group buy for vapor.
I'll probably just give up and install the Rallye 4. Cheaper and available now.

I concur, lets find a vendor. If the distributor cannot help, he provides a lesser price to his reseller, so lets approach these outlets. Busniness is business. I am sure they would consider a discount for a large order. I would.
Thanks for your efforts today. vz

Yeah, well to everyone above it's too bad, but the reason I was hopeful is that I was told that they (the distributor) have done group buys before and initially they were (my read) quite enthusiastic about supporting us. Info changed at some point, maybe they figure they have the sales anyway and why eat into their profit.

First of all, VictorH, thanks so much for your effort, I think we all appreciate how much time you put into it.
Second, I don't think what Schroth is saying is unreasonable. It is common for manufacturers to enter agreements where they can only sell at MSRP, while their resellers/distributors can sell for less. Just look at this board, and you'll see that most of the wheel manufacturers follow this kind of policy. That being said, let's wait till the product is finished, then approach some authorized vendors of Schroth with our ready to go group buy. I know of one Schroth authorized vendor in Canada, and I'm sure they would give us a discount on such a large group buy, regardless of how new the product is. |

I think we're all game to still see if we can get a discount on these items given the large numbers of people interested. Agree we need to wait until there is an actual product and then explore to see who's willing to deal.

Thank you VictorH.
I wish I could support a competitor, but there is none.

Thanks for the update and all your efforts Victor! For now we will have to continue to wait, but at least it looks to be in the foreseeable future.

are these getting close to being released. i was on the group buy list and am waiting. i have an email into a local authorized dealer for schroth, cantrell motorsports, to see if they can do something. like suggested a vendor like this may be willing to do a GB discount with such a large order.

I was wondering the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I called HMS Motorsport; they said the E9X M3 seatback passed the strength test and the Schroth QuickFits should be available Jan or Feb.

Yes, actually I was told the seat back test was passed this past Fall. Not sure why the production is taking so long. I was told they'd be out by December and now they're talking Jan-Feb. My bet is perhaps we'll see some by April.

I'm tired of waiting for this and would like to know if there is alternative for next season.
Is there another realistic solution without changing the seat? How would one install a harness in our cars that can be easily installed and removed for track days?

The more I think about this and wait for it, the more I think the alternative is a GT3 RS with integrated rollbar/half-cage.

You can use the Ralleye model with the OEM seats.

Cheaper too - I think that's what I'll do for next season.
