I didn't realize dealerships would actually intall non-BMW aftermarket parts. I called my local dealer and asked if they would install an aftermarket exhaust, the guy basicly laughed at me and said no way. must be nice to live in a big metro area such as DFW

Sooo I'm gonna go by the old addage of "It's easier to ask for forgivness than ask for permission!"

Picking up a Dinan Intake & Exhaust next weekend in Dallas!

PS - Scott please dont think i was bashing you or BMW North for your labor costs i think we all know that dealerships traditionally run higher on labor due to over-head.
I thought you were a pretty straight up guy when we talked i was simply posting my honest findings for my fellow forum members is all!

no offense taken, i'll be the first to admit that our labor rates are high.

Enjoy the intake and exhaust!

FYI our finance manger has a MR E92 M3 with all the BMW Performance carbon fiber goodies as well as the Dinan intake, software, exhaust, and soon to be racing mid section exhaust. So, if anbody wants to see or hear these components in person just let me know

Scott, are Dinan carrying dealers accepting of the mid-section exhaust, despite the fact that Dinan does not back it with their mirrored warranty? I've never modified any of my vehicles, so I guess my first question should be: When we say that a modification will "void the warranty", do we mean:

a) that if you install an exhaust, and a failure in the exhaust causes damage to the car, the damage to the car is not covered?

or

b) that if you install an exhaust, and an unrelated, damage causing failure occurs, the car is till not covered?

So, back to my Dinan specific question - can I run in to "whole-car" warranty issues by going with a non-Dinan-warrantied (yay hyphens) mid-section exhaust?

I hope all that made sense, its a little late in my work day Thanks!

Mike, would love to checkout both items when you're in Dallas. PM me if you wanna meetup after you pickup the parts. Which dealership? Are you installing in Dallas as well?

I have worked with BMW of Austin for my previous three M3's and each time they have installed 3rd party parts prior to me taking delivery, per my special request. I had several Dinan parts installed on my current E90 M3 before I took delivery, including Exhaust, Diff, Springs and Software. Since delivery I have also installed an ESS S/C and the Dinan mid-pipe, which I love the sound of and the added power is nice too!

As for those BMW Performance Parts you were asking about. Just check this website, http://accessories.bmwusa.com/Perfor...Selection.aspx as they should list all of the current CF perf. parts currently available. I had the CF perf. interior trim and loved it. I have since installed a custom matte silver CF trim, which I love even more! I see that BMW perf. also offers CF mirror caps, which was not available when I took delivery. That is a nice option too.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thx for the link. I clicked on it & the only cf parts I see listed are the mirror caps...What other cf parts are available from BMW for an e9x M3? BTW, I'm jealous of your ESS s/c!

I'll try to answer your questions with these examples:

-If a problem was to occur such as a 02 sensor failure and it was diagnosed and determined the mid-section exhaust caused the failure. the customer would be responsible for covering the associated repairs costs.

-If a problem was to occur such as a window regultor failure and the car was still under its factory warranty. The repairs would be covered under your factory warranty.

Nucking futs!:
Currently BMW Performance offers the following that will fit the M3:
-Black grills
-Front carbon fiber front splitters (I call them "the fangs")
-Carbon fiber mirror caps
-Carbon fiber interior trim
-electronic and non-elec. steering wheels
-Carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler (design varies between e90/e92)

BMW does not do a good job of updating the BMW performance web page..or offering much info on it for that matter.

1) Price of local pickup for front cf splitters? Do I have to drill holes or re-use oem holes?

2) Price of local pickup for cf interior trim? What exactly does it replace specifically? Pics?

Thx!

No drilling is required for the splitters however the use of high strength adhesive (betalink) is highly recommended.

The carbon trim includes the the door panels trim, rear panel trim, and left and right dash trim. (The leather center console remains)

I sent you a PM

What a day!

Picked up my Dinan Exhaust and intake today almost 700 miles round trip woo-hoo!

Got the exhaust mounted in Dallas (Thanks Jimmy!) then swung by Classic BMW to top off my oil and met a pretty cool dude with a stroker M6!

All in all looong drive to do in 1 day but my god does the exhaust sound

Will get the intake mounted by Saturday!

You're welcome, glad everything worked out for you! I'm assuming you got it installed at Autoscope since you said Dallas? Had I known you were gonna be at Classic then I would've met you up since I'm not that far away from them. Mini-review of exhaust?

Sorry man i forgot to put your number into my i-phone prior to heading out and once i was on the road everthing was rushed. Hope to meet you and check out your car someday soon!

I was kinda annoyed at Classic BMW as i just wanted to have them top off my oil and they wanted to sit me down get all my contact info etc...

Very nice facility though!

Three things that stand out about the exhaust:

1) Very nice low end growl very similar to stock just much deeper.
2) Weighs less than stock.
3) Virtualy no drone.

It's all good! I don't think I gave you my cell # in that PM, LOL! When I drove the M3 down to Htown, I bought a quart of oil from the dealership (forgot which one) & just topped it off myself to avoid any hassle. I'll bring the M3 down there middle of next month for a wedding so I'll hit you up then. I just got the Encore Innovation titanium exhaust installed earlier this week, woohoo!!!

BTW, you forgot #4 on your list regarding the exhaust...the black tips!!!

Anyhow avoid Momentum dealers at all costs. Worst service quality ever... I will spare everyone from my horror stories for now.
I have used Momentum for years and have sent countless customers there and have never had one complaint against them.
