Autocross Tips
Hey all,
I'm taking my e92m3 to an autocross event next weekend and wanted to know what things I should expect and take a look at before and after the event. The car is stock except for a dinan racing exhaust setup. |

Empty everything out of the car. Check that your battery tie-down is tight, that your lug nuts are torqued correctly, and that your tires have some tread left. Pump your tires up to 5 psi above the door sticker.
Do you have a Snell SA2015/2020 or M2015/2020 helmet? After covid, many clubs don't have loaner helmets so that's something to check with the club. Bring drivers license, blue tape for numbers (or yellow if you have dark colored car) water, and sunscreen There's usually a waiver to sign as you drive in. Then find a parking spot in the paddock area, remove your driver's floor mat and everything else from your car, put your numbers and class on, and go to tech inspection and registration. Your car would be in F Street class. During tech they'll usually ask to look under the hood and at the battery to make sure the tie-down is tight. Otherwise don't sweat it, just show up early and ask someone what to do. Everyone is friendly. There should be a novice walk and probably people who can ride along with you at first. And maybe just watch some youtube videos for autocross for beginners so you understand how the cones mark the course. Go through tech/registration early so you have the most time available to walk the course. Get as many walks in as you can. Have fun! |
