My 2 cents
Although I'm not totally enamored with all the design features I still believe:
E92 M3:E46 M3 = E46 M3:E36 M3 For those not so mathematical: The comparison and evolution between the E92 M3 and E46 M3 is of the same amount and in the same vein as the comparison between E46 M3 and E36 M3. Each is better than the other and each makes the other look instantly dated, yet all are wonderful in their own right. |

The E46 looks so upright and staid compared to the new one. I'm in love all over again!

proper comparison:
those "Press photos" of the e92 look odd.
the real car looks very different. let keep the comparison relevant. no point comparing it to the CSL. since most of us don't own a CSL.

The lines on the E92 are so nice but it really is big in comparison to the E46. Can't wait till we get the tech specs on it to see how it really compares.

At times I feel the e46 looks dated, but from those pics, I still think the e46 looks quite good compared to the e92.
Here are some real life pics of a 335s with e46 M3s http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43420 Oh and when I think of an inevitable comparison, I think of the e92 M3 vs a GTR. |

lol funny how an 8 year old design still looks good compared to the brand new 2008 design.
yes the new M3 looks more sleeker, faster, and better because IT IS NEWER BY 8 YEARS, but it definetly looks cheaper. cost control sucks doesn't it? can someone do the Interior comparison too. Please use the same quality pictures when you do though. I strongly believe E46 interior looks much better than E90-92 interior.

I love the new M3 ...hood, vents and all!
The only things that scratches my enthusiasm ever-so-slightly are: 1. The front bumper, why don't the splitters extend all the way to the main intake and more angled? Personally I think it'd look pretty good! 2. The rear bumper, why try to replicate the front bumper at all? It just makes it look too busy and the style of the diffuser just doesn't fit. Other than that, perfection. I'll try to post a chop of how I think it could've looked like sometime. As far as the E46 goes, it certainly looks more boxy and upright all of a sudden. Could simply be because the E92 looks lower and more squat. Still a classic though. One thing I really like about the E46 is the look of the rear in CSL-guise. That rounded aerofoil on top of the boot just did something magical. Also notice how the look of the two cars' front 3/4 view differ. The E46 has the bonnet, window-line and stepped-up bonnet line. The E92 on the other hand has the line from the bonnet all the way to the boot. No higher or lower lines there. Pretty neat! Last edited by kooper; 03-15-2007 at 02:09 PM.. |
