anyone ever wrap their center console trim?

i have a painted center console trim and not long after i got it the paint started to bubble and then the bubbles turned into chips and now that paint is pretty much half gone. hard part about getting it redone is that i had already sold my original trim so dont have a spare. was wondering if anyone has had theirs wrapped instead?

Yes. Wrapping the trim is fairly easy. I wrapped mine in 3M 1080 Brushed Black. Came out decent and has held up for 4 years now. I'd suggest doing one piece at a time, can be cleaned and wrapped within an evening so you don't have to drive without.

Tip: Use 3m Primer 94 pen on sharper areas before laying vinyl for better adhesion.

You mean this? The piece around the shifter? I wrapped mine with 3m vinyl, and it is dead simple.

yes that piece, i thought maybe it would be too oddly shaped for a good wrapping but thompsac25 does some really good work and yours came out nicely too

I used the 3m di-noc stuff and those vinyl is a dry application meaning you can reposition it several time and still be fine. Once you're happy everything then you heat it with a heat gun set it in place.

I spent $50 on materials but I got way more than I needed as I allowed for several screw ups but ended up getting it right on the first try. Took me about an hour? The hardest part was to keep all the CF pattern on the dash trim, console cover and console itself all in alignment.

Ah. It's Chitoge from Nisekoi.

It's a terrible photo. Taking a picture of the inside of the car when it's very bright outside is very difficult.

3M 1080 film is what you want to use for the carbon look in automotive use. Dinoc is a thicker film designed for architectural use and light curvatures, not ideal for trim wrapping.

The trim panels in our M3's are extremely easy to wrap. Anyone can do it. You only need a heat gun and an Xacto. Primer and edge sealer will make the results last longer around tight curves and edges.

On two cars I've gotten the interior painted in matte paint matching the car. I think it looks spectacular and is very durable

On the third one I've wrapped it in the same color as the car. I think it looks really, really good as well but inevitably will be less durable

One car is in Barcelona so I don't have pics. The car is Topasplau as is the interior which just looks spectacular. Matte finish so it doesn't reflect too much light

On my Montecarlo Blue M3 in the US I got the interior painted in the same color by IND, again in a matte finish

Finally the one that's wrapped

I did mine a few years ago..

The hardest part is the lid for the ashtray. You have to split it open and because the hight of the added fabric, I had to put in a few washers to keep it flush

These trims look fantastic! I want to do the same but was told carbon leather can't be wrapped. I feel like that makes sense but did any of you wrap leather trim by chance?

Did you guys remove the trim around the idrive controller to wrap under it? Seems like the cleaner way but it doesn't seem to come off easily.

Thinking of trying to wrap the shift knob as well, only the silver area. Not a fan of the silver color.
