Any remote coder can rewrite the ECU with the OEM 241E software. I would trust SaNGRia with my car

If you have the cable that is locked to the cars vin. You can reload the stock file using the AlpineMSS software.

This assumes the stock backup file is on the computer as well.

He says he has the email.

Usually the stock tune is included as a Flash first file which updates the software to the latest version 241E, then the modified tune file is used. If you are going back to stock you load the first flash file that was provided.

Did the previous owner include the VIN-locked dongle/cable with the car?

I was under the impression the flash first file is bypassing the RSA security to allow for a full tune flash. If that is the case, then touche.

I've always used recover DME with my own backup file to return back to stock.

someone above already mentioned. You remove the tune by flashing the "flash first" file , That would be the OEM tune.

Does anyone know if you still have to read and save fault codes when doing this? Sorry to bump old thread.
