When people say DCT and get mad when you call it an automatic. Your transmission shifts automatically, mine shifts manually. 2 types of transmissions.

It's like arguing there is more than 2 genders....

Though there is CVT transmissions out there so we can just call them trannies. They can identify as neither manual nor automatic.

The DCT falls under automatic.

That's a good one, I forgot to add it to my list. If your car has a mode where it shifts for you, it is automatic. I don't care if you press buttons to shift by yourself every time you drive or that your car doesn't have a torque converter. It's a very quick shifting automatic with two clutches, simple as that. CVT also falls under automatic in my book. It automatically keeps the engine at whatever RPM it sees fit without requiring the driver to manually do anything. The only type of transmission that is not an automatic is one that requires the driver to shift gears. But that definition is hard to swallow for some as they take offense to the term "automatic" and feel the need to get into technicalities. An unpopular opinion indeed
