Any opinions on a wax/sealant for Alpine white

Im aware that sealants like cquartz are great however, I was curious what is the next best thing in terms of durability, ive been using zaino but know many waxes have come along now and maybe easier to apply and longer lasting...looking for opinions, thanks.

Seems like the newest craze is spray in sealants. Sonax and hydrosilex are some more recent ones as well as Blackfire. These are more sealant type coatings that are easier to use and give about 3-6 months worth of protection. If you're not doing a true ceramic coating, use a good quality wax and then top with one of these. Sonax is probably the easiest spray on sealant and acts more like the wax than a ceramic coating but all you do is wash the car, rinse and spray sonax on the wet car and rinse immediately again. Then dry. Lots of great reviews

Thanks, since mine is always parked outside and driven year round, I ended up going with cquartz 3.0 and will give it a shot next weekend. I figured the ceramic coatings seem the best for durability, but the traditional waxes will probably do better for shine.

Make sure you have a way to cure the coating or it'll be a sorta waste. Heating the coating is the best way to cure it. Try and do it in the shade on a sunny day so ou can park it in the sun

I tried the Hydrosilex, I have to say I am impressed with it. It's been on the car since June and it still beads up really nice. For me, I will do it again soon, I feel like it is an every 3 months kinda application. I had a ceramic sealer applied professionally on my last M3 (sold it in May) and I had 6 months worth of experience with that coating and I see no major difference in hydrophobic qualities for roughly the 3 month mark.

Plus with Hydrosilex, it takes a total of 10 minutes to apply and a bottle can do easily 6 applications, you can spray it everywhere, even the glass and lights. Pretty hard to screw up the application provided it doesn't dry on the car before you wipe (do it in the shade or out of the sun and preferably when the car exterior is cool).

Just my 2 cents.

LOL, I thought it when I read the post. I would not like applying a coat I need to let bake in the sun. Seems odd...

It's not complete nonsense. Cquartz is what's on my paint and was cured with infrared lamps by my detailer. You don't HAVE to do that step but it hardens the ceramic coating making it more durable. Doing basic research about ceramic coatings would yield you several DIYers who had issues with the lack of protection with ceramic coatings and every one of them came to conclusion it's from lack of curing. Should go research the topic if you think I'm wrong

If you're trying to compare a true ceramic coating to hydrosilex, reload or any other spray on sealant, then that's the reason for not understanding the process

Enve, thanks for the tip about curing, makes sense. Just curious are you applying any kind of reload spray on top of your cquartz? I see there is one that comes with the kit.

Ever since I moved to Florida I don't really have the space or time to properly wash it often so I have a detailer who does it. He has used reload before. When I have washed it I did a rinseless wash called ONR and before wiping the panel dry I spray Ech2o as a glossifier, drying agent and slight protection layer but it's nothing like reload.

I'm actually going to be paint correcting and sealing my E38 sport this weekend and will be using reload as a stand alone sealant. This is my daily and can't justify the coin or time for a true ceramic coating. I'll keep you posted on the results
