I will probably switch to a Z06 sometime next month - I want a killer, manual transmission track focused car tht I can mod and then kill GT3s on the track!
hey you only live once! .. |

Yes sirrrr indeed. Looking to pick one up for next track season. Hopefully I won't have the same problem I had when I first bought it, now that I have more experience.

Well I feel I'm ready to graduate to a faster car. I run in the A group at my local tracks and post a respectable, consistent lap time that's within a few seconds of really fast GT3 RS's that rut out there.
I am sure I could squeeze a few seconds more out of my m3 given more seat time, however I have my heart set on a Z06 and feel that given time, I can be a lot faster in a Z06. |

The other thing about the Z06 is parts are so much cheaper... just as an extreme example... compared to a super, crazy expensive s65 motor, the LS7 engine brand new can be had for about $11k.

2012-2013 .. I want to buy new-ish so I can retain warranty. As far as mods, a friend of mine had a 2013 Z06 with a stoptech BBK and R-comps as his only mods and can do a 1:55 easy at the ridge without trying hard. He sold his Z06 'cause of kids so he's holding onto his BBK and wheels for me to pick up. Those are the only two mods I am planning initially. I might also get the pfadt control arm poly bushings and pfadt camber kit later. |

I have never seen the rear end of a Z06 on the track... well for more than a short moment while I pass him.
They are complete animals and my buddy has a 06' lemans. If I wanted a weekend car to thrash around I would no doubt get a Z06 but for every day convenience the M3 is obviously a better car.

yes and its a beast! It really depends on what you want the car for. I am a track nut, and wanted a car that I could get as close to a hard-core, no-compromise track car as possible - and there's nothing else out there that compares to a Z06 and its monster LS7 motor. I could go on to describe the car in detail and my experiences switching from a M3 if peeps here are interested.
I've gone through many cars to get to my Z06 - and have finally found what I've been looking for. A driver oriented, no electronics aid BS, stiff, powerful, light (3100lb) monster with a gem of an engine and a solid manual no-bullshit tranny! Last edited by w00tw00t; 01-25-2014 at 06:30 AM.. |

Congrats, great ride. I really prefer Corvettes in a subtle color like that. My dad is a vette guy and has a torch red one and has an order in for a 2014 z51. I begged him to get a subtle dark blue/tan interior but I'm sure he got some gaudy color. But he's Italian, and 5'6" so...... By the way, do you always track with your visor down? I feel like I'm going to suffocate with the visor down. ᅾ

It took me just two-three sessions to get used to visor down.. First session was horrible but by mid afternoon I was fine. I always leave it cracked open just a bit. Also now that I'm used to it, I love it. Reduces strain on my eyes significantly. |
