Portable Tire Pumps
Looking for options for a quality, portable tire pump for track use at tracks where an air station isn't close by (or there at all).
I bought a cheap-ass one at Napa and the thing never worked. Short of lugging a huge air tank and really long extension cord to the track. What is everyone using for this? |

i use a relatively expensive pump, but i also use it for offroading (filling 37" tires up from about 10psi) because i don't want to wait forever. pretty decent and fast.

I see a few guys at autocross use the Ryobi cordless inflator:
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-18...P737/206159256 I personally only inflate between run groups and mostly just deflate in-between runs as the tires heat up, so I'm using a cheap-ish generic cigarette lighter inflator commonly found in any department store.

I use this...
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 super convenient at autoX and the track to inflate all tires to the same "target". also, $30 prime. I have several of the ARB and Viair for the off-road trucks, but its way more than we need for a BMW. |

I got a portable 10 gallon air tank (longacre sells a 5 gallon tank) that I prefer over the air pumps. Just fill it up before leaving for the event and its plenty of air for the weekend.

I just got a Milwaukee 12V inflator that I like, but I have many Milwaukee 12V and 18V tools. If you gave a battery impact, see if the same company makes an inflator. Ryobi does, Ridgid does.

I got a cheap one from Harbor Freight. It works. I wouldn't really rely on it for repeated daily use, but for periodic top-offs or whatever, it's totally fine.

3.8 is about as far as you want to go with street tires lol. It's already a handful on the freeway with that much up front.

I used to lug around one of the Craftsman battery-powered compressors, which worked great until the locking chuck lost its ability to hold on to the valve stem. I've got a big compressor and tank in the garage, so I grabbed one of the little yellow Harbor Freight air tanks and I think it's worth the slight increase in volume. Only thing is you can't be quite as generous letting other folks use it during the day, the 5 Gal tank can do about 30-35PSI worth of total pressure increase in tires the size of the M3's before it hits equilibrium.
