Bolt-in Roll Bar Options

A need a couple of questions answered by anyone who has a 4-point bolt-in roll bar.

1. Who makes it and how much? (e.g. GMG, Fall-line, etc.)
2. Where are the mounting points? (i.e. Seat deck or Floor, Shock towers, Top belt mounts, or rear deck)
3. Can you post some pics.
4. Can you still use the pass-through from the truck?

The last question sounds odd since safety trumps all other utilities but I drive my race rubber to the track and need to still use my truck pass through which allows me to take all 4 wheel with. I want the GTS style which is a proven system but don't think I can do that. The idea that its reversible is ideal.

So far the Cantrell Motorsports roll bar seems to meet my needs the best but its pricey especially after I choose custom paint and shipping to the east coast. I could fab my own but I don't have time with the season around the corner. Would love to get some help here.

Thanks!

i think you'll have to just remove the rear seats (reversible).

as for tire carrying options, i carry two tires in an aluminum basket i have affixed to the oem roof rack bases. takes a minute or two to take off, and i can do it easily by myself. two other tires go in the rear seat area. so if this is a hang-up for you, this is another option. pics in next post. i sourced the oem rack bases on this forum for $120 i think. material was cheap (aluminum), and a friend burned it together for me. aluminum doesn't bend well, thats why its square. this project cost me about $320 i think.

Fits four. Mine is welded though. Have one cross on front and no ties in the rear. They have bolt ons that tie to the c (?) pillar support up high.

2 Mounting points, see below, that's my race car (fastest E92 M3 on the EastCoast by lap times!), the floor plates go usually underneath the carpet. The harness bar is made for cars with interior.

4 No, but could be modified.

Thanks guys!

Some interesting options - especially the roof rack. I'm going to look into JPmarketing's offer for a modified version. Ideally, I want something temporary but safe as my skills and lap times decrease and then I'm off to a stripped car and full roll-cage but that's a couple of years away. I saw exactly what I was looking for last summer while at Summit Point for an event. That guy was running a Cantrell Bar and squeezed his race wheels/tires in the rear seat area. JP's roll bar is nice with the rear seat support bracket plus the floor bracket.

I have the AE Performance roll bar and you can definitely fit your tires in there through the trunk. The front mounts to the seat base and the back bolts to the rear belt mounts.

It's Paul Walker's old shop. Went out of business after he passed.

I too run the AE Performance cage. When I saw one was available for sale, I jumped on it immediately, as the gap lets me carry three tires in that back area with ease.

Sucks to see it and Paul gone. Regardless, I decided to go with a custom version of Jakob66's roll bar that's modified for my needs thanks to him. I'll post updates as I get them and install. Similar to the AE performance version, I should be able to run my wheels and tires inside along with the rest of my track gear.

Nice! Can those wheels & tires sit up (racked vertically) 4 across? I think I saw someone built a tire rack in that space to do that- it made for a tight-fit.

My obsession sounds odd but I want to go as long as I can before the car becomes a trailer'd track toy. I need to pack the car efficiently for everything I usually take to a two/three day event which amounts to a lot of gear (i.e. tools, spare parts, supplies, canopy, cooler, etc). Also, there is something so cool about all those guys who drive their full-on track cars to and from the track hours or sometimes days from their home. I plan on doing just that until my old body rejects the long ride.

I wish they'd stack up that way, but there isn't enough distance to be able to do that. As is, I can fit the fourth tire in the trunk, but far enough into the seat area that I can fit a ton of stuff in the trunk still. With the passenger seat removed, I could fit another two tires there along with more tools. I can fit a tire rack on the roof and comfortably carry another two tires as well, so you could theoretically bring 8 track tires to the track + 4 street tires driven on.

Bolt-in bar now at Bimmerworld

Update on bolt-in bar. The bar is now live at BW and at the manufacturer's web site.
We're working right now on a more wheel storage friendly version for a customer and will have that done next week.
A F8x M4/M3 version to come in May!

http://www.bimmerworld.com/4-Point-B...E92-Coupe.html

Thanks!

Nice looking and well designed product. Any chance we might see an E90 version?

Amazing job! Jakob you're running rollbar only? Thought you had a full cage. With the insane speeds you're running (cup car territory I have been having (vivid dreams) about safety and been wanting to install one in my E90....

Appears Autopower is the only option for E90.

Hey Lutfy
Good to hear from you! Are you coming to VIR Hyperfest this year?
E90 chassis might not be that different after all.
If you can get your hands on drawings to compare E92 with E90 we can make it happen. OR if someone would provide his car we can make it happen.
Talk to you later.
Thanks

Just installed Jakob66's roll bar

It's in!

I worked with him (JPmarketing) for a modified version and it's a great fit plus I get my race rubber in the backseat. Mine is powdercoated to match the car.

I would highly recommend this setup over the other bars since he directly bolts to rear seat rail in addition to the floors which prevents punch through in a roll-over.
