Thermostat replacement Code P0128/Water pump

My car currently has code P0128 so I was going to replace the thermostat and coolant sensor. Would it be best to get the water pump replaced at the same time?

My car is 08 E92 with 57,000 miles on it. The temp guage is below or at half when it warms up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Dustin

The water pump is very durable, and should be good till about 140K miles. Just do the thermostat, and change the thermostat housing O-rings as well, or you'll leak.

Agreed, I would just do the thermostat.

Garage List
I just had this happen to my E92 M3 this week with the "increased emissions" on the Idrive and yellow engine symbol and when I hooked up the scanner it showed P0128. I checked my coolant level and it was on the low end, so I topped it upped with coolant and distilled water and reset the code. No new code since and the car runs great, so am I just lucky or are some people changing thermostats just because the garage says so? I hope this may help.

In my case, I had the code cleared and it came back after 2 months, so changed thermostat & coolant sensor at 60,000 miles. I've heard thermostats on these cars go out quite often around 60 to 90,000 miles.
Will change it again around 110,000 miles along with water pump & serpentine belt, pulley tensioners
