The new pad tension clips are in production currently and not quite ready to ship. We will NOT be including them in our kits as standard. Only a very small portion of our customers have asked for these clips, so we don't want to force them on people and inflate our kit prices for those who don't need or want them. They will be an add-on item available for purchase for those who do want them.

The rear Radi-CAL kit for the e92 isn't up on our site yet. The components for that kit are in production currently, and we expect to start shipping them by the end of the year. We do have a great non-Radi-CAL rear kit currently available for the e92. It will mate properly with our standard/conventional CP5060/355mm front kit, or any of our Radi-CAL front kits.

I'll try to get some more details on the new rear disc and caliper up here very soon, along with additional details and images of the pad tension clips. We've made great progress on all of these fronts over the past few weeks.

Thanks for your continued support gents.

Below is another video I thought I'd share of an e92 M3 equipped with our front Essex/AP Racing BBK ripping around Spa Francorchamps. Enjoy.

I just came back from Mid-Ohio, which completes my 4th track day with the CP9660 front. I did 2 days at Pitt Race first, but rain spoiled the party and I couldn't really experience the full potential of the brake upgrade. But I got lucky and avoided any rain at Mid-Ohio, where I could finally put the system through its pace. And boy, were you right Jeff! They are phenomenal, to the point that you need to lose the muscle memory from using the OEM calipers, and relearn you brake points marks. I could dive deep into the braking zone of 7 from close to 140mph, and do it lap after lap reliably, this really inspires confidence.

Can't wait to upgrade the rears (especially to ease pad changes) and get my hand on that anti-rattle clip

I am in for both rattle clips and rear kit and am just growing old waiting for them

Also Jeff $50 says if you sent a survey out, over 50% of current customers would want rattle clips...it is just that a few of us are nags about it.

Pad tension kits for both the CP9660 and CP9668 calipers are now shipping! Inventory isn't updated on our website yet, but we do have them. Please just call 704-824-6030 to order.

We put thousands of test miles on these pad tension blocks and they work splendidly. We created them from billet aluminum, anodized them, and topped them with a heat-treated stainless steel spring. They bolt directly in place of the factory AP Racing bridge pieces.

The Pad Tension Kit is sold per caliper. If you need enough for two front calipers, you need to buy two kits:

Essex Designed Pad Tension Kit for CP9660 Caliper

Essex Designed Pad Tension Kit for CP9668 Caliper

Please note that it is important how you install these!
The top spring is not situated in the middle of the block. It is pushed to one side of the block. For the blocks to work properly, the top spring needs to be oriented towards the outer edge of the caliper on both sides as shown in the pics below. Just think, "Laces out!" when you're installing them and you should be fine.

Maybe we should have a Pad Tension Block emoji contest? Ain't she cute?

Nicely done on those anti-rattle springs, Jeff. I assume they don't add appreciable weight to the caliper?

No sir. The rear calipers and discs are in production currently. I will be sure to post with all of the details as soon as they are available. We expect to see them before the end of the year.

Thanks! Our engineers came up with a really clever design, and I've never seen anything quite like it (which fits with the rest of the caliper). The weight difference is negligible.

Awesome! I'm glad they're working so well for you! It's really fun when you can start pushing back your brake markers further and further, and that has a dramatic impact on lowering lap times!

Hey there!

Been pushing my car more and more on track and looking at upgrading the brakes, I'm wondering what, if any of your kits fit under the Apex arc-8's? Thanks!

They have wheel fitment templates you can download/print to make absolutely sure a particular BBK will fit a specific wheel - that said the CP5060 will fit an 18x10et25 arc-8 with no problems.

Thanks for the heads up Ayao! Yea I should have added my fitment... but its 18x10et25

Also: being apparently new to life; how do I know what dimensions the 5060 kit is? On their website I see a 372mm (5660) and another (9668) but I dont know the difference the $400 makes?

We have three different front competition kits currently:

CP5060/355x32mm- Smaller, ultra-lightweight, uses conventional AP Racing caliper. This was the first kit we released for the e92, and it was featured in this thread.

We have loads of customers running and winning on our CP5060/355mm front BBK. They were used effectively in the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. Two Corvettes just got 1st and 2nd in NASA West Nationals over the weekend using our CP5060/355mm kit.

AP Racing's Pro5000R Radi-CAL calipers were released in late 2014 / early 2015. The Radi-CAL caliper technology is shared across AP's designs in F1, IMSA, etc. The factory BMW race cars are currently using this technology, as shown earlier in this thread. The calipers are stiffer and lighter than the older conventional designs. You can learn more about AP Racing's Radi-CAL technology and success in racing in this blog article. We created and released two front competition brake kits for the e92 using this technology, which is what this thread focuses on. The discs are identical in these kits, but the calipers are different. The 9660 is narrower and geared towards HPDE, Time Trials, and club racing. The 9668 is wider and is aimed at endurance racers:

CP9660/372x34mm- Larger disc for greater heat capacity, AP Racing Radi-CAL Pro5000R is the newest technology available at any price, 18mm thick pad (same pad s the CP5060 kit above)

CP9668/372x34mm- Larger disc for greater heat capacity, AP Racing Radi-CAL Pro5000R is the newest technology available at any price, 25mm thick pad geared towards endurance racing.

Since they are sized appropriately, all of our front kits integrate seamlessly with the OEM rear brakes, or they can be mated to one of our rear kits.

Rear BBK's

We currently have one rear kit on the market, the CP5040/340x28. The caliper is a conventional design, and it retains the factory parking brake. We have many cars successfully running this rear setup. This rear kit was initially designed to mate up with our front CP5060 kit, but it also works great with the Radi-CAL 9660 and 9668 kits.

We have a new Radi-CAL Pro5000R rear kit currently in production. We expect to release it before the end of the year. The caliper is a four piston that looks very similar to the CP9660, just smaller. It will be mated to a 365x30mm rear disc. It will also retain the rear parking brake, and will work great with any of our front kits.

All brake kit options for the e92 can be browsed here on our site. Wheel fitment templates for any of the kits can be found by clicking on the black "wheel fitment and installation" tab below the blue add to cart button.

Hopefully that clarifies things a bit!

The retention clips look great! Thanks so much for making them.

I ordered them but they are on backorder already. What's the ETA on them?

No problem! We're doing our best to continually improve our products and meet customer needs.

Our first batch sold out quickly, but our team is assembling more today, and the next batch will ship out this afternoon (including yours). Thanks!

The new CP9449 caliper is incredible! We literally got our first sample yesterday. This particular one will be on display at the Indy PRI show in a couple of weeks.

AP did a tremendous job of removing all unnecessary mass. The shape is really intricate, and I particularly like the big gaps between the piston bores. You can really see those holes on the underside pics. I also like the integration of the small, raised AP Racing logo on top of the bridge...very cool!

As we did with the front Pro5000R's, we'll have an optional pad retention clip of our own design.

We're still hoping to see a shipment before the end of the year, but it could get pushed to January. All fingers crossed!

AP has pushed back delivery on their new four piston rear Radi-CAL calipers several times. No need to worry though, they are indeed coming! Based on our most current information, we expect to start shipping rear e90/e92/e93 kits by April 1st. We have added the new rear kit to our website. The standard hardware that typically comes with our Competition Kits is included: Calipers, two-piece discs, mounting hardware, Spiegler brake lines, detailed instructions. It will shave 16-17 unsprung lbs. from the rear of the car, and parking brake function is fully retained!

As with most new caliper launches, AP has told us that we'll only be receiving a limited number of the new calipers. Since demand for these rear kits has been growing dramatically, we're a bit concerned that we may not have enough calipers in the first shipment to cover all demand. Therefore we are opening pre-orders starting today.
  • Customers who already purchased our front kit will receive priority for a matching rear kit.
  • We will ship kits out in the order in which the reservations are received. If you definitely want a rear kit, get your order in ASAP!
  • To reserve your kit, please call one of our sales associates at 704-824-6030 and give them all of your information. We will not be collecting credit card numbers at this time. When the kit is ready to ship, we will call you back and get your payment info.
  • Please note any accessories that you'd like with your kit...race pads, autox pads, fluid, pad tension kit, disc burnishing, etc. Also, if you already have our front kit and will be needing more pads for those, please let our sales people know.
  • If you ordered your front kit through one of our authorized resellers, you can have them call and reserve your rear kit.

Thanks so much for your continued support gents! The new rear kits are going to be killer, and a beautiful complement to the front kits you've all been enjoying. Below are some fresh family pics of the Pro5000R caliper range.
