Vehicle Safety

Anyone have any recommendations for shops that I can trust to do a vehicle safety? I picked up an E36 for the winter and can only imagine the drool coming down from the mouths of some shady mechanics when they see my 20 year old car roll up for a safety certificate .

I typically go to RMP, unfortunately Rocco is too busy and I'm currently on a temporary sticker. I live in Vaughan so I would prefer any recommendations within the GTA.

Stancefactory in Ajax or Bimmersport in Mississauga should be able to do a fair assessment.

I miss my E36, post some pics up!

Thanks. I called Stance Factory and they don't do safeties. Bimmersport was closed today so I'll try again tomorrow.

As for the new car, it's a bone stock 1998 328i 5sp, two previous owners, no accidents and unbelievably clean. The tan interior is unbearably hideous, but I couldn't pass up the car .

Told myself I would buy a beater and drive it as is, but am already considering the typical E36 mods (M bumper and moldings, a drop, M wheels, intake, exhaust and clears) . But this will largely depend on whether I can find a place to store it over the summer.

I go to White Eagle Motors in Mississauga and would highly recommend. A bit of a trek for you but they're usually pretty good with scheduling.

Ah, sorry to hear.

Congrats on the car!! that looks beautiful. a friend had a nicely modded green on tan E36 328i for years. I had a '96 328i myself with all the typical mods too. I love these cars, if it wasn't for them falling apart in the winter with rust I'd totally have one again as a daily. Gah.

Thanks. I called White Eagle Motors and was fortunate to get an appointment for Friday.

Exactly. We'll see how long this thing lasts . It currently has a clean underbody, with a minor surface rust spot on the rear just between the bumper and taillight.

As far as honest mechanics go in the vaughan area, I highly recommend Tamburro General Repairs (dufferin/langstaff). Its a 3rd generation shop that does great work with fair pricing. Everyone I've sent there has nothing but good things to say. I service all my company vehicles there as well.

Look into a RDSPORT front lip for the stock bumper. I had that on my 328 a long time ago n loved it. Its made out of the same matherial as the stock bumper which is very durable.
