1st BMWCCA Track Day of 2012: April 13th

I'm all signed up and super excited about the new track season. Who else is planning to come out?

I am hoping for a fair contingent of E9X M3s on track this year! Come out and play!

Do I need a helmet for the basic car clinic?

EDIT: Nevermind... You do not need one.

I've never been to a track before. Would this be a good event for a first timer?

Yes the CCC is a great way (and a prerequisite) to get your feet wet and then sign up for track days. The BMWCCA is very well organized and they have instructors that will help you along the way.

Do it. You'll thank yourself.

The CCC is pretty easy on the car as it's fairly low speeds so I wouldn't worry about swapping wheels. It's up to you.

Track days are a different story :-)

I am trying to sign up HPDS. Do you guys buy separate insurance to cover the event?

What do you mean separate? There is no insurance included in the signup fee. And your car insurance won't cover you for track incidents. If you want insurance, you need to buy a specialized track day / lapping day insurance. See the link: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286902

Finally! Congrats and welcome to the BMWCCA! The April 13th has two events going on at the same time. The HPDE is on the big track and the CCC is on the parking lot adjacent to the paddock. Since you have track experience, sign up for the HPDE. Here is the link.

See you there!
