I dont know where you guys are hearing this...

My family has two Range Rovers. One Supercharged

They have never had any problems. Never been in the dealer for anything other then maintenance. Their Air Conditioning and Radio blow everything away.

There isnt another SUV better IMO.

Yeah they get 12mpg but what SUV doesn't?

RR Supercharged slow?? I dont think so. It really moves out. The HSE is a pig.

I love my LR Disco 2. It's been modded and is my DD. Owning a vehicle like it, I don't even begin to worry abt gas mileage and such. I love the heritage that LR has, and also the off-roading aspect. I will always have it and will continue to own LR's. I will admit they don't have the greatest history when it comes to reliability. Mine has been pretty free of major work, but some of the newer RR's have had electrical issues and so forth. I wish they weren't a Ford by-product for sometime and not sure how Tata will take the brand into the next generation. The RR is a classic for sure.

All the problems my GF had with RR sport and service dept I had to deal with. Encino Land Rover is a joke. It was the way we were pissed on by Land Rover customer care. Couldn't care less about our concerns, it felt like we were dealing with Ford or Dodge. I sold RR sport after 10 months because of reliability issues and service dept. taking on average 3-5 days to attempt repairs. That's not what you expect from a $65k SUV. At that time Ford was at the wheel and they crashed LR and Jag.(F= $4.50 a share sums it up) There is a GREAT difference between Land Rover and BMW. Six BMWs in eight years and not one headache from BMW. Don't forget the perks Euro delivery, M school etc.

I dont mean to offend some owners of LRs, but the numbers speak for them self. Almost every quality and reliability study have LR at the bottom.

I really wish they were still sold here in the US. My favorite SUV ever.

I agree with you on resale. It is pretty... meh. Example: Last month, I picked up a 2003 Range Rover for $21K with 52,000 miles. Black/black, nav, OEM headrest monitors, OEM brush guards and mudflaps. I think it was a steal and it runs great.

BTW the 2003 was the first year of the new bodystyle and still had the BMW engine.

Wow that is so cheap and they look so hot! I wonder how scary repairs get though.

That is a great deal! I can't believe how inexpensive they are used... Must be a reason for it I guess.

RR sport is a very nice and prestigious suv, I would take it over x5 or cayenne. But in the future, if I want to buy a big 4*4 thing (the possibility is low because I hate suv sav ... ) Mercedes G series will be my only choice..

You do not have a choice like G400 CDI in US but G55 AMG really rocks too

I have a 1995 Discovery

135,000 miles, I have done nothing but routine maintenece, and it runs like a champ.

If you are buying pre-owned, it is an absolute must to buy one that has service history.

You know what I think about LR/RR?

The fact that this thread is still going pisses me off (and it has nothing to do with you OP, or anyone in the thread, I just hate the brand).

I don't know what it is, but I just don't like the brand. I don't like how their cars look, I don't like the mass yuppie attention they attract, I don't like how they're so hyped up, etc etc. The interior is average at best, the looks are boxy, bland, and too soft looking for an offroader. They're GREAT for offroading, don't get me wrong, it's just that 99% of them will never see anything but asphalt. It's bullshit.

That exterior is hideous as f*ck, but that interior is actually drool-worthy .

I totally agree, it really pisses me off. This past weekend I went off-roading on my colleague's property with the Range Rover I described in an earlier post and I thought it was amazing. These cars are really meant for it. I'm going to keep it really dirty for a while (mud and dirt up to the windows) to show other 'Rover owners what these are for.
