CHP tailing too close

Is it common for California Highway Patrol (CHP) to be tailing rather close on a highway without pulling over? I was going 50 mph on 55 mph hwy 17 and they came behind me and stayed within like a car's length and tailed me for like 20s, then they moved on. I found it rather dangerous. I think they didn't like something before they caught up and maybe just tried to be like doing it as a "warning", but still..

This happened to me a few times. I'm assuming they're running the plates or just trying to make me sweat.

If someone is tailing me this close on a highway I spray my windshield for 10s and they always back off. But didn't dare this time, probably for the better.

I chilled but lets say a deer jumps on a highway and i need to hit the brakes hard, they'll rear end me causing an accident.

All my cop buddies hate when people slow down below the speed limit. He was probably wanting you to speed up 😂

They should pull you over for 50 in a 55.

Yeah, I think I got off easy. They could have thrown tire spikes too...
