Got my first on Saturday. I’m just gonna take drinks and snacks. Torque wrench. And a bin to empty all the crap out of the car. Anything else I need? I know this has been beat to death. Did a bunch of upgrades already for the future. Running Better brake fluid and such. figure I will go and figure it out from there.

Hookers (or strippers) and booze for after the event. You're going to need it.

Don't eat lunch.
kills the 1st snd 2nd sessions after lunch and make you sleepy. I typically eat an apple or two and call it good. Dinner feels great! |

Bring a good attitude and open mind. Understand that you aren't as good a driver as you think you are. And remember to have fun! |

Well I think I will have a long time before I can outdrive the car I’m looking forward to it for sure. Good idea on the chair. I think I have the car upgraded for now, just going to spend a bunch of money on seat time, and hookers and booze. I normally don’t eat lunch during the day anyways so I’ll bring some snacks. Thanks for the tips everyone.

Our track day setup looks like this (with two cars, usually):
* EZ-Up canopy * Two Coleman camping chairs * Cooler with food/snacks * Two large double-walled jugs of water * Two small walking around water bottles * Helmet bags (x2) * Battery packs for phone/Go Pro charging * Extra charging cables * Small notebook and pen * Towel(s) * Change of socks/shorts (nothing like having fresh socks and shorts for the drive home if it's hot) * 5 Gallon fuel jugs (x2) Toolkit which includes: * 3 Quarts of oil (two for my car, one for the wife's) * Torque Wrench * Misc. small tools (wrenches, flashlight, zip ties, knife with sawing blade, screw drivers, pliers, electrical tape, fuses, misc. odds and ends). * Window cleaning + rags * Paper towels * Mechanics gloves (Latex and padded) |

From a non-"stuff" perspective, from an instructor's perspective, your first track day should involve learning how to drive safely on the track.
Going fast is a few days down the road. There are rules and protocols to learn as far as passing, what to do if you have mechanical problems, understanding the flags, etc. The car will feel different driving at track speeds than on the street, and learning how it feels will be important as you get going faster. You should have an instructor your first few days (depending on the clubs you are running with). The instructor is there to make sure you are safe, learn the specific track, and can manage traffic. Once he or she is comfortable you can handle those three items, then you can work on learning how the car behaves and how the dynamics change the faster you go. Make sure you are doing a walk around of the car after every session, including checking brakes. |

Run them. If you go off you will likely get stuck in the gravel. You won't be able to get out of your car on a hot track, and the tow guy will just hook onto anything sturdy.
