EDC/Shock Function Question

I'm im the process of reinstalling the stock EDC shocks and noticed that the rod on the shocks do not extend back out when they are compressed by hand.

I assume this is because in order for them to work properly they need to be connected to the EDC module on the car. Either that or the shocks are blown.

Thoughts or comments? Thanks

Just posting to get updates - I'm likely about to do the same thing, and have questions about determining how much life is left in the stockers.

Gas pressure is not able to overcome internal friction. Remember that the actual purpose of a shock (damper) is to have resistance to movement. Shocks are charged with gas to help with bad things that happen to the oil when internals move quickly. That gas pressure typically does not have a problem overcoming stiction of seals and valves. The only for sure way to gauge the health of your shocks is to run them on a shock dyno.

I understand that, but im not looking to get super technical about it, however, I do appreciate you adding that.

I just need to know if I should be concerned that the shocks can be easily compressed by hand and that they don't expand back out witrhout force. I trying to avoid installing all four corners only to have to uninstall them with new shocks.

Wasn't shooting for super technical. Just stating where I was coming from when giving you my conclusion which is in the last sentence. I haven't handled one of these shocks recently, but typically a shock in proper working order shows force from gas pressure.

What mileage on them?

That's exactly what I was thinking and if true, these must be blown, however they weren't when they were removed which is what's prompting the question.

75k miles
