Just to be clear, can you find out whether this was a rod bearing or main bearing issue? "Crankshaft bearing" is kinda vague IMO.

edit: And if they tear it down at the dealership can you get pics please?

I think modding a lease or bought vehicle makes no different. Regardless you will still remove the mods from the car when you sell it because stock cars always sell for the best value. Unfortunately since I just got the car and it's a short term lease I didn't get a chance to really do anything and don't really plan on doing much. I really like the car for the amount I have owned it and regret not getting one sooner.

My service adviser is being extremely helpful and doing what he can to update me and keep this whole process as easy as possible. Here are some photos he sent me.

OP, Im really glad this worked out in your favor, especially after just purchasing the vehicle and HUGE Kudos to your dealership and BMW NA.

I think the scary part about the entire thing is that its yet another spun bearing on a well maintained S65 with less than 30k miles... I know this is not a common occurance, but when you have one of these in Germany, purchased through mil sales, it only comes with a 2 yr warranty. We then have what is called Kulanz (German for "Goodwill"), which is a good faith service. It limits their responsibility substantially. A $25k engine could be the owners responsibility. Just saying, its kind of scary...

there are some engines that are just going to fail bottom line. BMW knows this and so do we. If i was out of warranty best thing to do is replace the weak points in the engine. wayyyy cheaper than buying a new one.

Hopefully I will get my car back soon. Currently driving around in a F10 528. I used Open Road BMW... Craig is my service adviser and I highly recommend him to anybody who is in the Tri-State area. If you even just have basic service he will come pickup your car and bring you loaner. Most of my clients as well as my friends use him and never had any complaints.
