M Cross Trim DIY

I finally had enough of looking at the wood trim in my e90 so after a few months looking at options I decided to go the custom route. There's so much black in the interior that I wanted to add some color without ruining the overall feel inside the car. I've done vinyl in the past but wanted to try something different so I ended up ordering M Cross fabric from Relicate. I used Gorilla Spray Adhesive to glue it to the wood trim.

The thickness of foam backing does make it odd to work around the vents but didn't cause any fitment issues when reinstalling the trim. The small dash trim was my test piece and I need to redo it. After working the kinks out there I did the driver side door piece and large dash trim. I figured out that i needed to use a lot more fabric to make the corners work better and got into a nice rhythm of glue/fit/hold. It pops with enough color without being over the top. Final test was my wife's opinion. She said, "It looks fine. It looks 90's.". I said yea, it's a fabric from the 90's and she said "Yea, the. It looks fine. It's better than the grandpa wood trim." I still have 3 door pieces to do and redo the small dash piece as time allows.

I'm happy I went this route as opposed to a vinyl pattern or another OEM style trim.

If I were more talented I'd love to use this on my door cards!

100% better than wood trim !!! This looks really good, congrats. I agree that the splash of color adds a lot to the black monochrome of the interior. Looks good on a silver car (i'm assuming yours is silver from the door pic) would look spectacular on a black car.
