If you're worried about MPG the M3 on its own is not the car to buy lol
With an SC strapped on and the habits you'll inherit while driving it, than the SC is not for you

At 17MPG you must have some crazy self-restraint

Engine cumbustion is more efficient when air is being blown in even during normal driving. Tuning plays a part with FI and NA fuel economy. We get reports from customers that run our NA software that their MPG is better. The fact that you no longer need to run your RPM's high to make power also helps. With the added power of a SCer you can keep RPM's lower and make good power.

Here is my MPG after 3 days of city driving. The car goes out tonight for some high speed testing. I will report back MPG later for a comparison.

Roman only tells the truth
I never cheeked mine, but actually it's not bad unless you drive really really fast
I think it's almost about the same as my old slk55 amg + I don't care about MPG because m3 is a high performance car and if you drive a m3 you shouldn't worry about it

I took the car out tonight and did some more testing. Did a wide variety of driving from highway cruising to all out high speed runs "high speed driving conducted on private property". Did several all out 0-120 runs and a few races with a local Carrera 4S for fun. After 100+ miles of mixed driving most of it being high RPM I ended up at 15.2 MPG.

I will continue to test MPG over the next week to try and get as much info as I can based on different conditions and driving habits. I will reset and start logging data again tomorrow. Once I collect enough data hopefully I can deliver some accurate information.

Did you reset your MPG before you began last nights drive at high speeds? If you don't reset it first the X number of miles you had before with high MPG will affect the average you're getting with the high speed driving.

But yes, I agree with your earlier statement that a proper tune can (in theory at least) help MPG, for all the reasons you listed.
