Auto Transport / Delivery

Hello everyone,

I just pulled the trigger on a M3 located in Portland. Reaching out to forums if you have anyone you can recommend to have my car delivered from Portland to So Cal?

I am back into an M3 after selling my old 2012 back in 2014, I am excited to be back and plan to keep this one for a long. I learned my lesson the S65 is a keeper.

Thanks everyone!

Send a message to BOOF-M3. He was able to connect me with transporter that gave me a better rate than any other quote I found online.

A lot of these shipping companies are just brokers and a huge hassle to deal with. If I were to do it again, I would pay a little extra and go with Intercity Lines. There are a couple other good ones that use their own trucks/drivers.

What are the specs on the car you bought in Portland? I'm wondering if it was the same one I was looking at.

I agree 100%. If you go online and fill out one of those online quotes for brokers it can become a nightmare. You will be inundated with emails, phone calls and texts by all of the brokers that are signed up to that particular online website. I'm assuming that my friend is actually a part of that nightmare system. The good news is that she hooks up friends of mine (anyone on M3post) as cvstar9M3 can attest, my shipper was $500 cheaper than any other quote he got for enclosed carriers. She has shipped approximately 20 M3's for myself and friends of mine. When we went on the Tail of the dragon trip two of us shipped from Tampa to Atlanta. We paid $400 for the two cars. My suggestion would be to get a quote from one of the shippers mentioned in this thread, then get a quote from my shipper and see who has the best price. And on a final note, you do not pay a dime until your vehicle is delivered through my friend. That's good stuff right there.

This is probably your best bet. Shippers can take weeks to get you on their schedule. Fly up and drive back in 36 hours or take your time.

Through BOOF-M3 's shipper, I was able to schedule a pick up/transport for my car within a week. First contact was on 11/3 for a quote. Car was ready for pickup on 11/10 and delivered to me by 11/12 due to 11/11 being a Sunday.

Cost was less than a flight ticket + gas for driving the car 670+ miles.

Was gonna suggest to contact BOOF-M3 but I see he beat me here!

I used his shipper. I'd use them again.

So many people have messaged me through PM's asking "who is this shipper" that I can't even recall months later when they mention it like you Chris lol. It's been awhile since you messaged me.

I would be curious for someone to get a quote from the Uship and my shipper to see if they are on par.

Lol. My personal experience going through BOOF-M3 , I saved exactly $200 vs Uship's lowest quote.

And as mentioned, full payment is due only upon delivery of vehicle

I had a recent nightmare experience with auto transport going from Georgia to LA. Never use a broker. Some brokers will lie and say they have their own fleet of trucks. If you hear $150 fee, they are brokers.

These are the only real auto transport companies in the US with their own fleet that we trust. Look for them on the 405.

- Intercity
- PlyCar
- JP Logistics
- Reliable Carriers

I am sure there are more. Last three have LA depots or offices for pickup.

Biggest issue is routing. How often the trucks go between your destinations.
Seattle to LA isn't, as popular as LA to NY or LA to FL, so you might have to wait for a truck.

Most important things are the following:
- Enclosed Truck for transport in the winter from North to South. Lowboy for easy on/off with ramps or a rear lift.
- Probably have to pay in advance (online)
- Call when at the pickup to photograph the truck and the car before release to the driver. (No Call No Photos - No Pickup)
- Inspect the car at delivery and photograph any potential damage. Photograph truck cab side and front.

It is a nightmare to register an out of state car in CA. Five easy steps.
- Insure car for the date when it arrives in LA, in advance.
- Get a CA smog test
- Get a VIN Verification at the local DMV office. No Line, just drive up to the Road Test Lane and ask for a VIN Verification. 10 min.
- Go to any private office that does CA DMV Registrations. Takes less than 30 min. and you get your plates and stickers. Try AutoTagz in Sherman Oaks. They do VIN Verf. too). Another place is across from Southbay BMW in Torrance on Hawthorne Blvd. that does the Smog Test, Plates/Stickers, VIN Verf. They also provide a CA Temp Tag for Steps 2-5.

For M3 service and upgrades in LA,if you are near LAX, use AutoTalent and for OC use EAS, SSR, or MRF.

Avoid all SoCal BMW dealers for service.

Welcome back to the //M3 family. Great way to start 2019.

Cheers,

Why not just drive it? I did it in a day and a half, and this drive it's easier than you think. Just the 5 freeway the whole way. I'm also in SoCal, found my M in Seattle. Flew up on Friday night (1 way ticket ~$200 and hotel in Seattle ~$130). Arranged to do the deal on Saturday morning($30 Uber ride to sellers house). I was driving out of Seattle by 11am. Did the 5 freeway the whole way. Ate small snacks, NO meals so your not loaded down and nothing more than gas stops needed. I got to Sacramento on Saturday night around 9pm. Another ~$130 for a hotel in Sacramento and left there next morning around 8am and I was home in OC at around 2pm.

Potentially going to buy an M3, also need to find a good shipper.

Hi guys, im currently looking at an M3 in Indiana. And while I haven't gotten the PPI done yet, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go through with the purchase barring any massive unforeseen problems.

if BOOF-M3 could let me know about how to manage that through his shipper, I'd feel far more comfortable going with someone this community knows.

(Im in Los Angeles btw)

Shoot me a PM and I'll get my shippers info over to you.

My suggestion is to contact Uship also and get a quote from them as others have stated and see who is cheaper.
