Discoloration in Alcantara Leather Stripe

I have an E93 M3, and the Alcantara steering wheel that I installed has the blue leather stripe. It is changing color (can post a pic next week if need be). Had anyone else had this happen? Is there a way I can rejuvenate the blue stripe? Maybe a dye?

What is the stripe made out of, is it leather or some other fabric? If so, I would try to gently blot it or apply light pressure with the same cleaner you use on the Alcantara itself. Otherwise, it might be fading from exposure to the sun.

If the cleaner doesn't work, I would take it to an auto upholstery shop and have a pro fix it.

It's made of what I think is leather. I feel like taking it to an auto upholstery shop is overkill, because it's a quarter inch strip of leather.

Might sound a little ghetto, but if cleaner doesn't work try a sharpie. Hahaha, not sure what else will bring the color back.

I've really been thinking about this leather paint because my blue stripe is pretty bad as well.

https://angelusdirect.com/collections/paint

It looks like its between blue and light blue tho so may have to experiment.

I actually came up with an awesome solution for this. I found light blue acrylic leather paint and painstakingly painted this with a q-tip. Link to the paint below. The color match is perfect; I can post pictures if anyone is interested.

The stripe is basically the thickness of electrical tape, I know you can buy some tape that size in different colors.

Could try just a small strip of tape in the same color or a new one.

I'm thinking of ordering the red paint to change the color of my yellow striped steering wheel. It should work since red is a darker color, right?

Post up pictures when you are done. How does everyone prevent the paint from bleeding onto the alcantara?

Ordered the leather paint listed below and the girlfriend meticulously repainted the entire stripe with a fine nail brush. Came out great . I will say that it is a little bit darker than the original color.
